I think you means "manifestO". I was on about the flipping dictionary's word of the year, which is now used as a verb and has little to do with the original meanings. Call me an old stick, but I prefer words to mean what they mean and not be hijacked in this way. I can see that from your second...

"manifest" wot a load of rubbish. AND it's sexist, or as we have to say now "misogynistic" (apparently wimmins can't be sexist any more.) Should be "personifest". I give up.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Well done. :) :) Those ceramic circular valve things are a night mare. We had a similar problem on a pillar mixer tap in the kitchen in Frogland. The hot side just wouldn't shut off properly. I took it apart and flound that the little bit of brass inside that held the stationary disc wasn't...

Interested that you use a fire. In frogland almost everyone uses a log burning stove, they are supposed to be up to 20 times more efficient than an open fire, depending on design. Ours sure is efficient. We manage to use very little wood in the weeks after we arrive and before we leave. The Frog...

So it's frosty down here. Typical that our heating is off in a cold snap of which we have so few. At least it is sunny. Our electric bill will be through the roof with a 2KW heater on a lot of the time! Have a good day folks.:):):)

Don't worry, I am only going to try and see if I can get it going until the plumber eventually turns up. This was never envisaged as a longer term solution! He wanted to come and change both the pump and the motorised valve on the one day in the next fortnight when we both will be away from the...

Testing and changing the glow plugs on a TD5

I've had a TD5 Disco for 10 years, I hardly ever wait to start it until the glowplug light goes out. I don't live in the coldest part of the country. But I still doubt it is all of your problem. Sadly.

Plumber cannot "operate before the 27th. :( And that is the one day in the next couple of weeks when we will be out all day and the do cannot be moved, so it'll be further on than that before it can happen.:(:( Think I will have to have another go myself. See if the present pump is salvageable...

If it is salt water then ice won't be the issue, probably! The detail you give does make a difference. Maybe you need some flip off big logs to roll it up on. I've seen fishermen on the med coast using lickle logs to help roll their lickle fishing boats up the beach.:) Tempted to try and make a...

But he did say "wt for wt". we should be talking about it varying with density. There are some very dense woods, among the common woods oak is the densest. So 1 kg of oak should give off as much heat as 1 kg of balsa. But it would have considerably less volume. Diesel has a higher calorific...

AAAAGH! Does ANYONE offer fully comp cover on driving other vehicles?!!

You need a Trader's Policy, but then there would be all sorts of conditions. Can't think of a time when you got driving others cars fully comp, ever. But it should be possible to drive other people's cars fully comp if they have an "any driver" policy. In France you insure the car, not the...

I was thinking of steres of hardwood which of course are stacked 1 metre lengths of cut and split wood which we buy and they weigh about half a ton, I think, maybe a bit more. We find good dried Oak burns brilliantly so wondering how they can be better calorific value. They'll have reasons.
