This is all solved now. The gate valve opened the hot feed to the coil, once done I had hot water at the taps in a very short time. working lovely now. (I had water at the taps all along once I stopped trying to turn the water off to both hot and cold. ) Still chasing the airlock(s) but getting...

Ta mate. I had been taught that one by a plumber a while back, but this gate valve is so clean I didn't think it was that. As it turned out I was just being too delicate with it. Once freed off I could open it with the handle. Without having to play with the, (is it the "gland") nut. But cheers...

J you were dead right. I was just scared of being too Neanderthal with it. I took the handle off the top, gripped it with a spanner and once started I could finish opening it with the handle, hot water from the boiler now seems to be flowing through it. Thanks, very much indeed for making me...

So do you just think I should just use "machanical means" to try and open it then?:eek::eek:

Have discovered that when set to HW only, we have no hot water. (One gate valve on the bit of pipe that goes into the tank and presumably lets hot water from the boiler flow in or out of it, is probably jammed closed. I can only get it to move slightly in either direction, I must have...

Some sugar fee stuff is OK now, used to be horrible. I drink sugar free Sprite in Frogland when it's hot.

Dry and sunny yet again today. Found that "we" have accdentally burned kitchen paper onto our blasted induction hob. "Someone" put an empty oven tin down on a ring and the hob, cos it's "clever" and "electronic" sensed it and turned itself on to cook stuff in it. Only there was nothing in it...

It's to do with all the poor sub-post masters who got sent to prison for allegedly fiddlig money when it wasn't their fault it was the pooter system. If the post office branch is closed they can't find any evidence of them "fiddling" and send them to prison. ;)

I do love it so much when you tell me off for doing something I didn't know I shouldn't! This is the first secondhand phone i have ever bought and it worked fine until 4g started flipping around. It is with 3 which is how I know I have no coverage, because, of course, I went on the internet to...

I wish you'd tell that to my phone cos as soon as October came around it stopped working. I had been warned this would happen. It does still send texts. But I'm pretty sure it will still work in France. It would work in the UK if I had "4g calling" compatible, also known as VoLTE, but I don't...

I'll have to make more effort with this although tbh I really, really prefer taking pics with my DSLR. @Dippypud mentioned using bluetooth and I did get it to work although it was extremely slow. I think I'll be getting another sim card, prolly a Tescomobile one, as I guess my phone must have...
