Fault finding Autobox Freelander 1 (V6)

according to another thread there are nine solenoids in a Jatco. Live data parameters that are readable (and can be logged) in pscan include:- Line pressure duty ratio Lockup pressure duty ratio 2/4 brake pressure duty ratio Brake solenoid Reduction solenoid Low clutch solenoid A shift solenoid...

It doesn't yet do instrument cluster, north american spec V6 or cruise control ECU. I can't think of any others right now.

How about I work on the AC and you figure out how the 75 trinary switch system works? because I can't understand it. Currently mine just runs the cooling fans on full power all the time, which Andrew says is "emergency mode" because the trinary switch system isn't there. This seems fixable to me...

    Freelander 1 Auto 1.8

I had to take a break for a few days because last weekend I went to pick up my daughter from the airport in the Jag and when I put my foot on the brake pedal it went straight to the floor and left a big pool of brake fluid on the ground. Also the AC compressor has seized solid. I absolutely...

Fault finding Autobox Freelander 1 (V6)

You cannot diagnose modern vehicles without a good diagnostic tool. Alternative F and 4 is telling you that it has a problem but you need to know which specific problem, and to do that you need the right diagnostic tool, and it needs to be one that can interrogate the Jatco ECU. I have my own...

    Freelander 1 1.8 Turbo

I still have work to do on the Rover 75 ECU in the Freelander 1. It works really well except for air conditioning and cooling fans. I think that the air con pressure sensor actually goes to the GM6 ECU in the 75 and to the cluster in the Freelander, so I suspect that there are CANbus signals...

    Freelander 1 Auto 1.8

Hopefully not necessary, however, it might be wise to reverse engineer how it works whilst my stock ECU still works. Once the PG1 box comes off the stock ECU is useless and no more reverse engineering will be possible.

    Freelander 1 Auto 1.8

it might make it simpler. If the sensor is handled by some other ECU then maybe I don't need to do anything with it.

    Freelander 1 Auto 1.8

I think I got the wrong ECU on the 75 for the evaporator sensor. I thought that it went to the engine ECU but now when I look again it seems to connect to the BCU ( CO662-3 ).

    Freelander 1 Auto 1.8

I went through wiring diagrams and compared Rover 75 with Freelander 1 A/C and cooling fans. They are quite different because the 75 has a trinary switch connected to the ECU on a few different pins, whereas the Freelander has just fan control relay and A/C clutch relay and that's it. Talking to...

    Freelander 1 Auto 1.8

Over the weekend a Rover 75 NNN000110 ECU arrived and today I flashed Andy's latest firmware. Now the ABS is reporting all the right numbers:- I think next I need to figure out how to adapt the cooling fan output because the cooling fan runs all the time, and also see if I can get the A/C to...

these three figures are sent from the Engine ECU to the ABS ECU. I suspect that they are used for Traction Control, rather than Hill Descent? Maybe it's part of the algorithm where the ABS tells the engine to retard it's timing or something.

I am now able to emulate the engine ECU on the canbus. ARBID 0x316 B1=Available engine torque ARBID 0x316 B4=Max engine torque ARBID 0x316 B5=Friction loss torque All three are a percentage with 0x00=0% and 0xFF=100%

    Freelander 1 Auto 1.8

some more progress. This is a screenshot of live data from the ABS module with the engine running:- The parameters "Available engine torque" and "Max engine torque" correspond to ARBID 0x316 B1 and B4 in your EV post #1. 26% is 0x43 which is 26% of 0xFF. The problem is that I don't know...

    Freelander 1 Auto 1.8

When I look in live data on the ABS controller I get these two parameters:- Available Engine Torque. Max Engine Torque. With the stock Freelander ECU the numbers are changing. With the Rover 75 ECU they are stuck on 100% (from memory). This data must be coming over the CANbus connection from the...

The iMac got intel processors something like twenty years ago I think. So yes an iMac should work with pscan. An iPad won't work.

More news. My son tells me that he has access to the metal working place at his uni. He's a physics student and he can book time and use it, but he's not a machinist. Still, maybe I can go with him and do it myself or slip some money to one of the technicians there. He also has a friend who...

yes it can with Teves Mk20 and Mk25, but not yet Wabco-D. As yours is a newer model it will have Teves so it will work. it's very early days with the D2 and I haven't yet done SLABS. It's probably going to take a long time to do it.

There is also another option which doesn't rely on knock off dodgy software and which you can receive a lot quicker (shipped from the UK).....

    Freelander 1 Auto 1.8

A Rover 75 1.8 dual mass flywheel arrived yesterday. anyone know how to split them in half? Presumably I smash out those two pins first? I also need to remove the starter ring which I've never done before.
