There's a block for sale in Reading which I'm intending to grab tomorrow

can anyone tell me whether a Freelander K series block and sump is the same, or different to other MG Rovers? I'm looking for a block to start mocking up an adapter plate for the transmission, flywheel etc. MG Rover blocks are cheap enough that it could be worth buying one just to save time...

The immo can be hacked to accept a chip that didn't come from Landrover, but, to do this the immo has to be removed from the vehicle which means removing the dash top. It's much easier just to buy a new key from Landrover which they can supply with a chip already coded to the vehicle.

I am about 99% sure that pscan is going to talk to almost every ECU on a NA spec Freelander 1 just the same as a European one, so you'll get ABS, SRS, CCU, Jatco transmission, and, that it will talk to the Siemens MS43 but only in OBD2 mode. I think that I will have to get an MS43 ECU sent over...

Pin 43 on the Jatco ECU goes to the brake pedal switch and I haven't hooked that up which explains why that didn't respond in live data.

actually, I could pretty easily hook up the Freelander V6 engine ECU, Jatco, ABS and a cluster on the bench and look at the CANbus messages to see if they look any different to the 1.8K series. I just can't get it on a running engine.

it's a Rover 75 auto ECU. The Jatco gearbox ECU seems happy with the engine ECU, the problem is that the ABS ECU doesn't like it. Something inspired me to go an look and the garage, and there was the Jatco ECU that came from the auto V6 donor vehicle. So at least I now have a matching Jatco...

I don't think it's a wiring problem. I think that the ABS ECU is receiving CANbus data that it doesn't like because that particular ABS and Jatco combo aren't compatible.
