They could if I knew how to tell them to but no, they are all stand alone. Current Arduino count is 4 if you include the VCU which is a Due in a fancy board. 1, Due controlling charging but hope to add more functionality to it some day. 2, Uno controlling the coolant pumps. It used to control...

It was always a shaft for a knob, just the first one was all wrinkly and hard (metal) and 4kR whereas the second is smoother softer and fatter (plastic) but only 1kR.

I love the way you said nifty and not neat cause neat it ain't. 🤣 But since nobody will ever see the inside I guess I'll get away with it. ☺️ Cutting the hole semi straight with a dremel was not easy and I used a little file to try and tidy it up a bit but TBH it looks much neater in the car...

Some photo's of the cabin heater controller. I don't think I've ever used the ash tray anyway. 😋 And yesterday I even managed to refuel my car using the sun.

So the great news is we are back on the road again after more than two weeks major organ surgery (cabin heater) and some plastic surgery to the LV junction box. The vac boost is working a treat and so far everything else is too. The cabin heater issue was entirely self inflicted as I had the...

    VCU Torque test results

I just sorted out the cabin heater and tidied up the Low Voltage junction box so it was off the road for a couple of weeks. I really missed it as I get a real kick out of driving it. To change gear I just lift off the throttle completely and it changes gear no problem. I do try to be at an...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Drove it. :) For the first time since taking it off the road almost three weeks ago to sort the heater and tidy the Low Voltage junction box. Everything that could go wrong did but I finally got the heater working and the newly tidied JB should make future upgrades or fault finding much easier. 😋

£300 Freelander project! ... my first ever Land Rover

Your boot door is in fantastic condition. Most cars of that era have a huge rot hole under the handle resulting in the handle pulling off. Well done for finding the fault.

Maybe but maybe not. Lots of them are removed only because the support bearings have failed and removing the propshaft is the cheapest way to get it back on the road.

No, I did what you said and with help from Nodge built a coupler to link the gearbox directly to the motor. Changing gear is no problem though, maybe cause I don't have regen. Everything Nodge said is correct although I won't be pushing the range again. I managed 110 miles then the battery...

Its all about gearing. I have the Leaf motor bolted to the Freelander gearbox so when I use 1st it is probably a lot lower geared than the Leaf would be. Normally I start off in 2nd which i think is closer to the original Leaf gearing but I then go up the gears as normal,

    Freelander 1 Freelander EV

I got it installed after my last post and so far so good with the vac boost. :) Of course a couple of other issues have cropped up but hopefully should be simple to sort. I know what one of them is as I had the same problem before, when I turn on the lights I hear a relay dropping so that is a...

    Freelander 1 Freelander EV

When I started this I guessed there would be lots of wires but it kinda evolved into a bucket of spaghetti. There are so many systems that need connecting and issues with timing to take into account. This still looks a bit messy but makes it much easier to trace the wiring. And of course it...

LOL, I did that once, I guess it is similar in a way but maybe the stat might be a bit easier. If you're wondering about the modules at the bottom of the photo I plan to make an extension to the LV junction box to enclose them. ;)

    Freelander 1 Freelander EV

So today I managed to pretty much complete the LV junction box and get the car working again (spinning the motor while in neutral and charging). I made a couple of minor errors with the location of some wires but they were easily sorted and no harm done. Before connecting the battery properly I...

I have a spare tank cradle in good condition, only slight surface rust so just needs a lick of paint. I think it had been replaced a year or two before I bought the car that is now my EV. Twenty quid plus postage and it's yours.

I've always used 5kg at 1.2m so it's difficult for me to comment but I'm pretty sure all the Freelanders I've owned were much worse than that when I first got them.
