Glow plugs faulty for cold start smoke, remember td5 only has 4 glow plugs. Black smoke is not normal when running, unless it has been messed with.

I use the same puller at work, I find apply some pressure with the puller, then get physical with the arm itself, in your case push and pull at the main pivot point. Tbh release oil will not make any difference.

As Anaconda says above most horns are/were permanent live and the switch provides the earth. Iirc series 2 has only one fuse, and the series 2a had two fuses, not sure on the series 3. Single fuse on the s2 protects wipers and horn, and lighting, 30A fuse from memory. Might pay to post a pic...

Just look for the source of the leak, if not obvious get someone to rock the steering whilst you take a look see.

The heaters come as a complete kits, ie standpipe and the fuel pump is all included.
