    Display bulbs p38

Thanks I think I understand now. I believe there must be a problem with the HVAC because the tell tales (I only learned that term tonight - thanks) have never worked. All the button operate ok. I've put up with it for years (literally) so I'll have to have a look and see whether it is worth...

    Display bulbs p38

Thanks for reply and info - but isn't that kit for the backlighting? Backlighting is ok - it is the bulbs that light up the switches when they are pressed that I need to change. I see those orange plastic things on eBay - are they the things I need? Thanks again chaps.

    Display bulbs p38

The backlighting on switches around the HVAC (heated screens, air con, seats etc) all show when lights on, but none of the switches light up when the button is pressed. Is it strange that all have gone? Can I remove the individual switches to get to bulbs or do I have to remove panel...

    P38A Change?

I have now had my P38 for just about 10 years. It cost me £12500 when I bought it and I have taken it from 28k miles to 98k miles. Of course many of the usual things have gone over time but it has generally been very reliable and I still love it. The reliability I put down to being the end of...

    P38 panel bulbs not working

Thanks for getting back to me - but I thought the HEVAC was heating etc - is there a feed to the bulbs or am I misunderstanding? Excuse my ignorance if it's a daft question.....

    P38 panel bulbs not working

For some reason none of the switch warning lights (around the display screen) work (air con, heated seats etc). The screen itself is fine and the switches themselves work, but no warning lights. Have had the car 7 years and they have never worked and it hasn't bothered me before, but then the...

    Air con Low Pressure point

Thanks KDS, that's exactly what I'm doing and what I wanted to know. Never thought to check sizes of fittings. Datatek - I know one or two who have had bad experiences with kwikfit -not Air Con though. Thanks anyway.

    Heater O rings etc advice

Water in the RH footwell, just checked and the inevitable heater o rings are leaking. I've changed blend motor before so I will use the shortcut method because my downward ducting is already cut through. reading the threads the biggest problem is likely to be loosening the screw of the o ring...

    Holland and Holland

Yes you could get a L322 2002 BUT I have it on good authority (from RR mechanic/technician) that if this is your budget area, you are much better off with a late model P38 where many of the faults are sorted, rather than an early new model where faults were numerous - this applies to ALL new...

    External Temp Sensor

Morning Gents The Ext Temp Sensor (2000 P38 Diesel Auto) seems to have gone a bit do-lally. Looked at old threads without much help. Sometimes it's about correct, often much too high. It follows ploughing through floods in bonnie Scotland in November when it hit 36 with external temp...

    EAS problem, continued....

Car hardly dropped at all last night and instantly was up to correct height. Later happened to park on a bit of a slope and went into a shop for about two minutes. When I came back it took about 20 seconds before the height light stopped flashing. Puzzling me. Anyway doing as Gav advised and...

    Anyone know a quick fix

A couple of things to note. It's not easy to check the oil level in an auto box you usually have to do it when it's running. If it is actually low and not checked properly you will get strange things happening - usually though this will be slipping clutches or bands rather than staying in...

    EAS problem, continued....

I'll stick with the Air Springs, thanks. I've had my P38 for 4 years and this is the first problem with EAS. Anybody got an answer the the valve block clicking (above)? Also the car is now knocking on 10 years old - and the springs don't look great (cracks). I wonder if they're...

    EAS problem, continued....

Did soapy water test as per Gav/Storey Wilson, no leaks at all. Then left car ticking over and took suspension to high position, ok. Then dropped to normal then to access. Then tried to get back to normal and it took five minutes to get there. Now back up, Compressor runs almost...

    EAS problem, continued....

Thanks Gav - As it came instantly back up when I started it this morning I didn't think it had a leak - but do you think it may have? I'll do soapy water check anyway, as you advise - and also get compressor refurb kit. Cheers, Rob

    EAS problem, continued....

P38. (continued from ealier thread). This is story so far: EAS compressor not working, car on bump stops (I'd lowered it down) With your advice, checked fuses and worked thro the RSWsolutions checks, couldn't get compressor to work, but overtemp sensor and Pressure sensor seemed ok Drove it...

    EAS Compressor not working`

HELP PLEASE! Working through the diagnostics on RSWsolutions (great site). Unfortunately Compressor doesn't operate at all, but I still have no error messages. Checked three fuses, all ok. Tried to operate compressor by removing the relay as per RSWsolutions video. However the relay on...
