When you say won't start do you mean it turns over but doesn't fire or won't turn over on the starter motor.? If you put your whole problem in the F L section the boys on there will have good answers

I'd have it back to them then and show it's not running right.if you've paid them to do the job it should be right first time and it's their responsibility to make it so.Dont be fobbed off, you've paid good money and it needs putting right

Sounds like the timing has moved whilst you were changing the belt ,I'd check it asap as you could damage the valves etc if they get in contact with the pistons ,go back to basics timing and start again from scratch

You obviously know what you're doing so illI shut up interfering,just wanted to reassure you it's not unusual to have fairly high oil usage after a rebuild.Hope it keeps going well for you

If you search around and find the range rover specific forum someone will tell you how to sort it.be sure to give them exact year model engine type etc and bet they'll help you fix it

Good,just sometimes with a rebuild you'll get a lot of crap in the system at initial start up and it'll upset the breathers/ any egr valves etc.One thing I would say is don't be afraid now and then to give it some high revs for a few minutes at a time just to chuck out any sticky stuff that...

Just one thought,can yours breathe easily? Is there a bit too much crankcase pressure forcing all the vapours out and there fore loosing a little oil all the time

This is not specifically about your engine but having don't many rebuilds on Volvo Cummins and Scania engines over the years some of them have gulped oil for 20k miles before settling and stopping using any at all,some never used any from day one and one in particular (a daf)I was on the verge...

That was proved by them saying stuff like you'd have to remove the body on d3/4 etc to change the belts at£1k plus.now clever peeps have found that's crap and it can be done with body on How much have they ripped off doing that? Thank god there are innovative and clever amateurs out here who...

That's just what the buggers have been after for years,they want to make a fortune out of us by actively stopping us doing it ourselves and then charging £200 pH for some spotty oik to plug it in

Yes should be possible,any thing you can take off from underneath will help with maneovering it out of the engine bay

Ps you can drive it just keep your distance because you have probably got no ABSbut brakes will still work ok wouldn't go off road as traction etc also not working and you won't do it any good with hard work
