    P38A EAS advice

So a bit of electrical tape round the end wouldn't give a better seal, oh well it was just a thought. I'm willing to bet that it has been leaking and overworking the compressor. Cheers for the reply pal. John

    P38A EAS advice

Hi All, I have a 2000 reg P38 RR Not too long ago I was on here about the air suspension which was sorted. However last week I noticed the compressor getting loud I could hear it over the engine also noticed on the odd day the suspension taking a while to rise up, of course on Monday I got the...

    P38A Air ride suspension

I recently had an EAS problem, the software is free to download, you just need the connector, the software is pretty easy to use, there is also a really good instruction video on youtube, you can get the diagnostic codes, start your compressor without running the engine, completely re set the...

    What is this pipe?

Is it the drain pipe for the sunroof. Easy way to see, drop some water down the drain under the sunroof rubber seal and as long as they are not blocked up you will see where the water comes out. Cheers John

    P38A Pressure in Expansion Tank

Hi all, It's confirmed to be the vaporiser, I drove home Friday night on LPG and today the coolant was under pressure. This almost backfired on me though as I started the engine to run to temperature on petrol and it was air locked shiiiiiit, managed to get the air out and the overflow came...

    P38A Pressure in Expansion Tank

Hi guys, So far so good, I could not find an actual cut off valve so I just turned the lpg system off on the dash, drove to work and at lunch time I noticed some coolant loss but when I took the cap off only a very small amount of pressure was released, so I topped up to level, drove home and...

    P38A Pressure in Expansion Tank

Yes mate there is, going to look at cutting the gas off then run on the expensive stuff and see what happens, just pop for a bank loan lol Cheers John

    P38A Pressure in Expansion Tank

Hi guys, Just spoken to an LPG specialist and he confirms the leaking VAP theory and he gave me a couple of tests to do I'll post them in a bit lunch time is over. Just want to say a big thank you for everyone's advice so far. John

    P38A Pressure in Expansion Tank

Hi Mark. I have a compression test gauge, I will add it to the list of tests. Cheers John

Hi Saint, yes she runs on LPG, what you thinking

    P38A Pressure in Expansion Tank

I can't smell any gas in the coolant but then again I'm not sure what it would smell like, I just think it smells like warm antifreeze. Nasty I am going to run the head gasket test again, but the engine runs sound, no signs of white smoke from the exhaust it's not lumpy apart from when it's...

    P38A Pressure in Expansion Tank

Your first question I had it running for about 20 minutes with revs on to simulate a normal journey. I had a really good look for leaks that pipe I repaired was the first thing I checked I can't close the bonnet with the pressure test kit attached. So driving would be difficult lol Will keep...

    P38A Pressure in Expansion Tank

Just had a look at the cap, the seals seem ok, now from what I read on google there is supposed to be a spring that compresses to release pressure, I can't compress the spring down by hand but since I got home and removed the cap I seem to have lost a load of coolant (see picture). Yet there...

    P38A Pressure in Expansion Tank

Thank you mate, I'm just going to take a look at my cap now. See if there are any notable signs of failure

    P38A Pressure in Expansion Tank

Well, I'm starting to lose my sense of humour now, come to work all good, pulled into gas station to gas up on way home as I start the engine needle shoots up to red then settles back to normal, so I've pulled over and coolant level is really low, I've loosened the cap and sure enough coolant...

    P38A Pressure in Expansion Tank

Hi All, Today I put the coolant pressure test kit on the expansion tank and ran the engine up to temperature, I also had the wife put some revs on up to 2500 rpm whilst the engine was at full running temperature. Crazy thing is, when I shut down and went cold the coolant pressure dropped as...

    P38A Pressure in Expansion Tank

I'll run all the tests tomorrow and see what the readings are. My biggest concern is if it is holding pressure like this will it eventually blow out of the expansion and overheat the engine. Worst case scenario and all that ☠️

    P38A Pressure in Expansion Tank

Crazy crazy behaviour, well I'm going to do the test again tomorrow (in day light), them I'm going to, put the coolant pressure test gauge on and run the engine up to temperature and see what the reading is, then I'll kill the engine and see what happens to the pressure. See how it all behaves.

    P38A Pressure in Expansion Tank

Well, the test was negative but with the return hose pumping coolant back into the expansion tank right near the top of the tank I'm pretty sure I was sucking coolant up into the test fluid, would this screw up the test?
