Thanks Lynall for the reply, Yeah Ive done that, just my dash display (speedo, fuel, warning lights) connectors have been cut and there no corresponding wires in the loom to see where they attach too, does the display wiring get connected to the fuses or some were else? Many thanks greg

Yeah I've heard people say about distortion, I just thought a new bulkhead would have been less likely compared to a repaired one :) sorry to hear about your bulkhead tho! Was.there much alteration to the tdci bulkhead though for the 200tdi dash/heaterbox etc? Many thanks greg

Bought it couple of months ago for 400 (as rebuilding a defender from scratch) and got it from a local wrecker in liverpool area, I'm gna have someone have a look at it before we start un bolting everything and take it back as he said it was a good runner, or swap it :)

OK so I'll check tapets, and i take it a compression test would also check for head gasket? Or any other signs, no bubbles in header tank, and no creamy oil. I just don't wanna strip engine down in case the wreckers wont take it back after messing with it etc. Thanks for the replies

If the valve caps are damaged, wouldn't the engine run rough/effect it? As the engine starts half a turn, sounds nice, no smoke etc. Many thanks

Thanks for the replies. So james Martin, would I find out by doing a compression test to see if the piston rings (or whatever is causing it) is causing it? Or could something as simple as tapets be the cause?

Right, we cleaned the breather, makes no diffrence, we left the pipe going Into breather and we even left one of the pipes going turbo off and it still spits at a high rev, and leaks at the gasket (cam chest) but soon as we take the filler cap off (pipes reconnected) there no leak/spitting out...
