    Project 90 300TDI shi**er

Hi All, Time for an update. Well the Landy managed to get an MOT just before Christmas, thanks to Gumtree 4x4. I did as much of the work as I could beforehand, but alas the weather got the better of me. The last job I did was replace the rear exhaust section. Can you see the hole yet ...

    Recovery/Protection - Ideas

cheers all. I agree, the rear xmember isn't really suitable for towing, so maybe also not suitable recovery. I've ready about a pair of JATE rings and a bridle to spread the load. However, I can't seem to see any pictures of such as setup. I'm just looking for the optimum setup (for my...

Would these be a suitable rear recovery point, whilst keeping the towbar. I assume these fit here:

    Recovery/Protection - Ideas

As i'm starting to enjoy greenlaning and soon off-roading, i've been thinking of some additions to the Defender. Research suggests this steering guard from Rebel4x4 is good value for money I assume JATE rings are not suitable/required, with such a guard, and therefore these shackles...

Well that's an encouraging start. I'm on the final day of a holiday with the land being a few hundred miles away. I would certainly appreciate some checks/advice to determine what is working and what is not. Thanks in advance guys

I know the outer seals on one caliper were out completely and touching the pads! So that's an indication that they are dangerously in poor condition. Made some good progress recently, here are the discs. pads and calipers fitted. New caliper bolts used also, and a bit of copper grease on the...

Next step is replacing the front calipers, discs, pads and brake pipes. The hub came off easily with the impact wrench. A lot harder was separating the hub and disc, it was almost welded on. I wads smacking it that hard the disc broke in several places. Here is a pic of the old...

Got the radius arms fitted now. I learned a few things the hard way. 1 - Drill the **** out of the old rubber bushes. This makes it possible to remove the inner sleeve without cutting it (thick therefore hard work with a hacksaw). Also makes cutting the outer sleeve easier...

I thought I bought a full set of bushes, but there's not front ARB in the kit. I certainly intend to refresh the landy from top to bottom. Once I did the first, the other 3 were **** easy and took 5 mins tops each. Thanks all for the support and advice

Ok I need some advice... I shall be fitting new shocks and springs soon. Am I right in saying the front and rear spring brackets as well as turret ring retainer in this picture are not galvanized, so would coat of hamemrite straight to metal paint would keep the rust at bay for longer ?

The next week or so there should be a lot of work done on the Landy. It was booked in for welding and MOT with Clive from black sheep off-roadibng, but as he's not able todo the work at the moment, I've had to book it in with Gumtree4x4. So it's heading there next Friday. Here are the list...

    Replacing Exhaust

I'm in the same boat, and it must be done in the next week. I intend to cut the rear section just past the olive joint and attack those rusty bolts. I'm de-catting mine at then same time as the cat is leaking
