I agree self restraint is better, but no matter how much we use it those who don't understand the concept will still be damaging the lanes.

But surely if we just don't drive the ones that are bad then they'll be no more use to us than the ones that are closed? It makes sense to keep clear of lanes that are only bad on a seasonal basis, for example lanes that get too waterlogged in the winter as we can then use them in the summer...

    Cable / Amps

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse you, just trying to explain what will happen with an increase in voltage. I see no problem with what you are planning to do, 25A sounds right for the fuse and as long as the wire is capable of carrying 25A or more you should be fine as its not travelling far...

Probably will be around 23 not 21 amps as the bulbs are rated for 55watts at 12 volts, with the real potential being 13volts the bulbs will dissipate more power and the same current will flow. This is the same as mains powered heaters/water heaters where you get different power ratings for 230...

Sadly I won't be coming out for a few weeks as I've kinda broken the defender. I snapped a brake pipe whilst changeling the flexi's and have decided since its not going anywhere at the moment I might as well get on and tackle the suspicious head gasket and other fluid leaks.

I'm up for a trip in Sunday, might as well break something else before the mot on Monday.

X-Eng's X-Lite Azimuth or X-Lite bulbs filling with water

It gets in cos the lamps aren't sealed. Funnily enough the makers didn't design them to be waterproof. They are also quite good at filling up with water when the plumbers have been round and poured water through the ceiling.
