    Td4 auto no drive whatsoever??

Ok got an auto td4 in with this exact fault. It's not ird related. Unfortunately the car came in semi dismantled (ird removed in a very bodged way) so there could be things disconnected o don't know about etc. Will be checking all the earth's and swap out the abs sensors but any more suggestions...

    IRD missing

You cant just bolt an output flange on as the crown wheel and pinion will require shimming, which means the IRD has to come out. Also unless the crownwheel/pinion were knackered there isnt really anypoint removing the pinion and blanking it, so id guess its probably knackered. We wont use the...

strange noise after diff mount change and vcu fitted

Is because you press the clutch or is it because you aren't applying any acceleration?? I.e. does it do it in neutral with clutch engaged/disengaged

strange noise after diff mount change and vcu fitted

Try pulling the prop down see if you can make it push up against the bearing carrier, if you can do this easily then they are too soft. If the prop hardly moves then could be the rubbers are too hard. How did you knock the bearings on?? Did you ensure you only knocked the inner part of the...

strange noise after diff mount change and vcu fitted

There is no need for the bearings to be perfectly aligned, just about square is fine. Where is the VCU from? Is you car an auto? The knocking will probably be the rubbers in the carrier bearings being a bit too soft, we are seeing a few makes now where the rubber is too soft and when the...

Bell Engineering now reconditioning Freelander 2 rear diffs

No modification to haldex unit, im not an electronics man so not looked into doing the reflash option on the later gen4 haldex units, but im lead to believe this isnt an option on the earlier gen3's anyway so up until the layer 09 cars there isn't a choice. From what we have seen its down poor...

Can't shift IRD filler nut, car on ramps, difficult

Hit the head of the bolt with a hammer. It may take a few blows, but that will break the corrosion and it will undo no problem then

    Normal or not?

Glad the 2 cars are sorted. I'd just like to clarify that both VCU's were perfect, and the fault was due to the carrier bearings, we just changed the VCU as we had prepared them with new bearings prior to the customers arriving. The itema were replaced FOC as was our time as we value our...
