6 bolt steering box drop arm query?

If I can just get this drop arm sorted then until my steering box needs replacing I will make do.

6 bolt steering box drop arm query?

Yes. I double checked it was the 6 bolt drop arm as I had got the wrong one previously before I checked the steering box. So explain exactly what I need to change for the disco set up. Not the steering box itself? If you could measure the nut that would be great. I think it is 35 mm but may be...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Took off ramps after steering overhaul and then back on ramps to redo the drop arm. Been off the road for about 3 months doing welding etc so a few extra days wont matter.

6 bolt steering box drop arm query?

Well it started off as a straight forward job. Split rubber on drop arm ball joint so order up a new ball joint kit and extractor. All other steering joints done as MOT advisory (well not all but whilst there), easy removal of old ball joint, all greased and back together....that is except for...

    Flange, seal or cap?

I think I may go the series metal cap route. I fixed them with hylosil last time and still leaked after a while. Still, the welding around the rear damper mount and bump stop needs doing first, then the front outrigger repair. Oh joy!!! Lol

    Flange, seal or cap?

I had wondered about the metal caps. Do they fit? I think with my spacers and Disco alloys then they should have the space. I did put sealant on the previous 2 plastic ones and it leaked through. If I move the wheel slightly you can see the oil weep past the splines. It appears these can wear...

    Flange, seal or cap?

Well the rear wheel is off again on my 1987 Landy 90 and the usual cleaning off the residual diff oil from around the inner wheel. Leaking out of the end cap, again (not past the seals and on to the brake shoes which is fortunate). Breather is clear, so I am now wondering, could it be the flange...

    Discovery 2 Roof Rack

Hi, We are selling our heavy duty roof rack off our Disco 2 as we now have no need for it. It is the one sold by Direct 4x4, I think called the Titan. We added a chequer plate with a 3mm rubber mat for better loading and more stability when standing on it. It also stops the mesh vibrating. It...

    200 TDI Boost Ring

I haven't heard of that option I don't think. The 1275 taken out to 1380 is my preferred one , but here again, until I take the head off I wont know what the bore is. I can't imagine a 1275 will still have a standard bore now. But you never know.

    200 TDI Boost Ring

Aye, I know. Fortunately I have a mate who has a flow bench and another who has been grinding cylinder heads for years. I have yet to take the head off my current engine to see what, if any, porting has been done. If only the 8 port was cheaper, or the K1000 conversion....lose authenticity then...

Lol. There speaks the words of experience methinks.

    200 TDI Boost Ring

Fair point. As for ancient engines, I am used to my Mini A series and Rover V8, neither of which breath too well in the head department so it costs considerably more than the £50 odd quid price of the pin to release some power. I get your point about the excess diesel. I suppose it can always be...

    200 TDI Boost Ring

Which means less economy I am guessing. Would all the tuning of the pump and actuator actually have the same results but in a different way, then?

    200 TDI Boost Ring

The pin seems to most straight forward to start with. They are not actually a million miles from me, so my just drop in and discuss. Using the 90 everyday at the moment, so a few more horses would be nice.

    200 TDI Boost Ring

It clearly pays to come on Landyzone more often than I do. I decided to look at the tuning of my 90 200 tdi, something I did a few years ago with my Disco 1. Then I read about these boost rings and boost pins. Hmmm!! Thinks I, this sounds like a good option, as I do not as yet have a egt or...

Hi mate, Just reading your posts about the Boost pin and Boost ring and wondered what you thought of them a year or two down the line. I have a stock 200 tdi in my 90 so was considering fitting. I am only down the road in Cannock as I see you are in Stafford, Cheers Sean

    Before I grind away..

So I am seeing two schools of thought here. One to grind flush and then knock out the centre, or grind down the outrigger and essentially make it fit the existing hole. Hmm, Is the former the better, but more involved method, or is in actual fact trying to ream out the existing hole, more of a...

    Before I grind away..

So did you grind away on both sides of the chassis until flush and then does this break the weld with a bit of persuasion?

    Before I grind away..

Hi chaps, The main things on my recent 90 MOT failure is the rear out riggers on both sides. So, off with the old one and then pause before taking off too much with the grinder. When the new one arrived, helpfully sent by Craddock's, who didn't have it in stock, despite them saying they did, it...
