Hmmm good shout it’s good food for thought. Luckily I don’t have to MOT this one but I want it to be safe enough to drive (and stop)

    Diahatsu DG engine/clutch question.

I have a series 3 ex army 109 I’m refurbing it all but by bit. It has a diahatsu 2.5 dg engine conversion but original gear box. Now I have the seat box and floor up I think it’s a good time to change the clutch. My question is quite simply... is the clutch an engine component or gearbox...

Hmm wiring it in to the break lights seems like a cost effective solution

Hi thanks for your response. Is this a switch which is fed from the vacuum line to regulate the pump running? If it is it could be just what I'm looking for!!!

    Brake booster info needed.

Hello all. I have a series 3 I am going over at the minute. It is converted with a 2.5 dihatsu diesel. Found the brake vacuum pump to be completely knackered and spewing oil. It was powered from a spline on the back of the alternator and oil lubricated from the engine. Anyway after failing to...

    EP90 / 80w90 vs UTTO

Hello all. Might be a daft question. But can I use Universal Tractor Transmission Oil (UTTO) as a replacement for EP90? In gearboxes and diffs? I use it at work (exol UTTO undeyed) in all our big tractors both old and new and seems to be wonderful stuff. Anyone who knows anything let me know...

    Fuel tank capacity.

Sounds like you are the man with the know how! thanks for your response. I used to run an old transit on derv/veg oil mix with no modifications or problems and it ran sweet, that's what has got me thinking about saving a few quid on free fuel. I'm running a Daihatsu DG (2.5) with a nippon denso...

    Fuel tank capacity.

Amazing information thanks so much. Having said all that would it be easier and less bother to just mix derv and oil together? 50/50 or so and then not bother with the hassle of extra maintenance, conversions... etc? Or what would the mix have to be? My mileage isn’t going to be huge as it’s not...

    Fuel tank capacity.

Good idea I had considered exactly the same I have an oil cooler radiator I was going to use to drop in the tank and use as a heater from the engine coolant however after speaking to a friend (an engineer) he pointed out that the fuel line is so long and thin gauge plastic that the warm oil will...

    Fuel tank capacity.

Gentlemen, thank you all for your responses. It’s a very interesting subject running on veg oil. I’ve not started to run on it yet as I’m still building my “refinery” (down to 1 micron filter) my friend works in a kitchen and offered it to me for free. I’m getting about 150 liters a month. And...

    Fuel tank capacity.

Hello fellow series owners.... Quiet a simple question really but cant seem to find the information anywhere. I have a 1983 ex mod 109 with a fuel tank under each seat. I'm wondering what the capacity of each tank is??? I'm trying to work out my range running on Veg oil :-) Thanks in advance.

    Merlin report interpretation

From what I found, or thought i found, They were based at waterbeach which i think closed in the 80's and then transferred to Honington. Its great to know where the vehicle has been and what its done (although slightly less glamorous than I had imagined, was thinking more Bravo 2 Zero)

Great stuff! so I've been doing some digging and found out pretty much it spent its life stood in a yard for 5 years, in NI in a couple of different barracks for 6 years, and in Bury st Edmund's for 4 years on an RAF base until she was got rid of in 97. Now here is something else... Why was she...

Also if it went in to service in 83 how come it wasn't used until 88? would it have been sat somewhere for 5 years or is there a gap in the merlin history?
