    RRC brake failure

would the fuses and relays under the seat be labelled? i took the side panel off the seat but could only find 3 fuses under there, none of which were labelled (not clearly anyway) and none of them were blown.

    Breaking a classic range rover

really just need the hose, diaphragm and bell housing part, ive got the linkage and everything that sits inside the bottom part of the distributor so its just the bit on the outside i need. this bit, and the thin black vaccuum hose that runs from the plenum to the vac advance: is it a 4.2 in...

    RRC brake failure

went to drive to work this morning and found that the brakes didnt work.. -the pedal feels normal -there are no obvious leaks anywhere under the bonnet -the pump doesnt come on with the ignition like it usualy does so im thinking this is an electrical problem rather than mechanical? i had a...

What do you tow with your Landy?

have used my RRC to tow stuff around on the farm a few times. best one was a fully loaded forklift truck (probably 5 tonnes all in) that was stuck in soft ground. low 1st and about 1000rpm was all it needed to get it moving. left some nice 6 inch deep ruts in ground too. V8 power :)

    Advice Please 300TDi or TD5

having had a bit of experience with both, i would say 300tdi if you want a workhorse, td5 if you want something a bit posher that wont be getting too much stick off road. however i find the steering on the td5 to be really twitchy and annoying compared to the 300tdi. also td5 is totally gutless...

Buying a Discovery and need advice

off the top of my head: - 300 got a bit of a facelift, most notably the interior got updated, and possibly the grille/headlights got changed slightly? - i think the 300 got a new manual gearbox, but the autos kept the same old borg warner 4 speed that it had before, im not sure whether the...

    Help diagnose Gearbox noise

does sound like the syncro not working properly. is it a rattle like something is loose, or a grinding noise? also can you feel it through the gearstick?

    General tools

especially ratchets. there is nothing more frustrating and painful than having a ratchet fail when you're really giving it the beans, which results in smashing your fingers on something solid / pointy. avoid cheap ratchets.

    What LR for £1000 max?

£1000 could get you a reasonable range classic, though 200tdi's seem to be few and far between, and ive heard the VM diesels are a bit pants... id say get a disco 300tdi if its gotta be diesel =) would a series landy for £1000 be asking for trouble?

3.9 playing silly buggers while hot

yeah my usual drive is 15 minutes steady 60mph jaunt along an A road, with 5 minutes of up and down twisty B roads at either end, so i guess 17mpg isnt too bad for what it is. hopefully that means my piston rings arent worn, and things are mostly working as they should even if its still a bit...

3.9 playing silly buggers while hot

quite possibly, and its an easy job to do so worth doing anyway even if you're not sure. got the leads today so the range is up and running again. she seems to run a bit better now with new plugs and leads, feels like there is a bit more power low down the revs. remains to be seen whether my...

3.9 playing silly buggers while hot

i apologise in advance for this question, because you must all have answered it a million times, but what are good plugs and leads to buy? ive had a bit of a hunt around the forum and ive NGK BPR6ES plugs mentioned a lot, but most of the topics seemed to be about gas converted engines. however...

3.9 playing silly buggers while hot

that fact that when it drops to 750 its back to being choppy and nearly stalling, but if its still doing it after ive replaced a few bits i'll worry about it a bit more. i think all in all shes not running too badly, its just that im comparing it to the auto box disco 300tdi we had which was a...
