I'm having a few issues with my landy and I'm thinking a 200 300 Tdi engine swap may be the ultimate solution (ie a landy that will pull a full trailer up hill without dropping down to 2nd lol) not looking for break neck speeds, just to be able to tow at 60 and still talk to the person next to...

I learnt a good few years (and land rovers ago) not to have one as my only transport :-) I think any work by turners would be out of my price range... its been suggested a quick replacement of the camshaft rollers and sliders could tighten things up enough to make it usable again???

ok yes hes a pro, he use to live close to me but has moved and popping in is a 80 mils round trip! Latest suggestions are low battery power (either duff battery or duff charging system) causing the back fire, weak spark etc Megga rattle is now pointing towards cam shaft and accompanied...

its got a electronic set up, plus new carb plugs leads. complete new timing chain and tensioner fuel filters oil's changed not to mention new GB parabolic springs...... O 110 seats new paint job............. all this and it runs like poo LOL What do Ex land rover owners drive these days LOL

My problem is time, I use to have loads of it, I don't know where its gone. the knock is "free running" as it doesn't seam to be directly linked to the engine revs, yes it gets worse as the revs go up but it stays knocking at its own speed as the engine revs drop off... that's about the best...

Can anyone recommend a breakers yard where i could get a replacement ser 3 petrol engine? I'm looking for a good runner to replace the current 2.25 lump in the 1972 swb. I live in Kent and all the old breakers yards they use to have land rovers are all gone now.... Any help gratefully...

evening all.... ok here's the latest.... Problem was traced to a blocked jet, apparently it had sucked up some dirt and blocked the carb, .... I went to collect this evening and it was running rather rich and missing, a quick tweek of the mixture and I took it, hoping the run home would improve...

O g or a spark plug spanner....just picked landy up from having nee gb springs fitted.... almost got it home before it went bang :( the ride is nice though lol All tools were taken out before leaging it at the garage lil

Dizzy is tight and I have a strong spark from the coil but I think the plug spark is quite week to be honest... you have to really look to see it

Sorry 2.25 petrol... electronic dizzy new carb plugs leads coil..... just about new everything :(
