Update Took it to garage to have it plugged in to diagnosic comp. Drivers side Lambda sensor found to be u/s ( same sensor was taped into for LPG) new sensor fitted now monitoring the mpg.

Hi Sorry yeh starts on petrol switches to gas. I've found a local landy specalist with a diagnosic setup for the v8 plus he know about lpg conversions. Taking it to him tomorrow so maybe he'll fine somat?? Andy

Yes mines a single point gas conversion so starts on gas then auto switches once about 2000rpm

SO general opinion is that i should be getting more. Any idea on common things to check sensors etc??

I looked on Paddocks they only list disco 1 disks no change in partnumber for the different engines. - Brakes

My usual parts supplier only list 1 brake disc type for disco 1 so i'd say they are the same.

Now i know what your going to say 'Its a v8 if you want good mpg buy a TDI'. How ever i'm getting 7mpg round town and 11mpg on a run from my 1998 disco v8. It has Lpg convertion but does the same on gas/petrol so can't be owt to do with the lpg?. It runs/drives fine no missfires or back fires ...

I've heard the timing marks are on the crank shaft vibration damper?? can anyone post a picture of explain where it is?? Cheers

Hi Thanks for that. I've been having a read and see i have got to put the enging at 6 deg BTDC ( i'm presuming this means Before top dead centre) then fit the dizzy with the rotor pointing at number one lead. What markings are there to tell me when i'm at 6 dec BTDC? Andy

The story so far. Decided to service my disco and for good measure change the rotor arm and dizzy cap. At the spares shop they were unsure about which rotor are i needed so i nipped out and removed mine to show them. (The Arm was stiff to pull off). Bought my bits and refitted the original rotor...

i have poor/ no radio reception in my 1998 disco. The aerial is built into the rear side window and i have connected the blue aerial power feed to my head unit but still no reception. Is this a common issue???

Hi Rad doesn't leak no external water leaking. Engine did get hot when coolant lost but stop as soon as i noiticed.. What do you reckon??

Just bought my first V8. Its a 1998 v8i disco. Other day it overheated while i was out. after a cooling period i found the expand bottle was empty and had to put some 7 litres of water in to fill it up. Drove home ( 10 miles ) when i got bak the expantion bottle was empty again. Next moring...

Does anyone know what tyres will fit on a swb series 3 without causing any problems with catching / rubbing. I'm looking at a set of 31x10.5r15 on 8 spokes. Any advise would be kindly received Andy

Hi lift pump tested and found to be ok. EGR blaking plate fitted. Now pulls very very slightly better but still loves its diesel to much!! Hesitation is bit better but still there. Any more ideas? Andy

Hi yes pushing it down to the block. there is little or no resistance aftaer pumping for 20 ish times

uummmmmm makes you wonder why they were ever fitted??

hi just tried priming the lift pump and there was no pressure when i was pumping so i think i'll get a new one. Could the egr valve be causing both the low mpg and the hesitation? are there any know problems after the valve is removed ie not passing emisions at mot etc?? Andy
