Yep, I've had the calipers and drums seize on occassionally and you sure couldn't go near them they were so hot It would feel exactly how you descibe when driving

"standard" steelies ? I thought only the early low spec models had 15" steels, not seen any in 16" I have 15" Alloys and 16" nice looking Alloys - the best range of tyres is in the 16" rim - and that size gives you a god sized sidewall for off road(ish)
