Glad you are getting sorted I'd take the hit and go to a new garage, the retest period may have expired now and I wouldn't put a foot or anymore money across their threshold. - after all you've just saved on one sensor anyway - let alone the hundreds saved by a bit of time spent on here.

That sounds just like the Crank Pulley failure - also similar sound comes from the belt tensioner failing. But, first check your lower inner wing lining isn't in contact with the pulleys and belts

Autosense £37 each less 10% if you buy 2 = £33.30 each This includes the bush you need to replace at the same time

Yep, check you brake fluid level - they are on the same circuit ..also check the connector for the sensor wire on the Fluid Reservoir - it can be easily damaged taking off the engine acoustic cover

Hope it works out for you. Seems strange he didn't want to do the shaft but was willing to do the sensors. Never mind, at least you don't have to deal with him anymore

Depending on year - a driveshaft can be had for £70, but the fitting is a lot more work than changing sensors

Heck of a lot more work in fitting a driveshaft. That price could easily have just been the labour. and would have been easy to change the sensors then - they can get damaged when removing the driveshaft

Have you looked thru the "Good LR Garage Fred" - sticky at the top f the forum. Out of sheer curiousity - how much did your driveshaft cost at that garage? and, were your "3 amigos" lights on

Sounds like a real stable business if he has to ask for front money to order the parts. Bit like that Cowboy Builders program on the TV !!! If you give an indication of where you are, I'm sure that there are folks on here who will steer you in a better direction.

Do you supply your own, or are they also charging for the vaseline when they shaft you? You can get the sensors for £37 each (10% disc also when buying 2)

The locking wheel nuts and keys are fine unless mullered by people overtightenng them :rolleyes:

Quite right Bobbler, it's a stupid argument I've never had a Series or Defender but in 3O years I've had several Range Rovers and a couple of Discoverys. Each has it's merits The Series/Defender conquored the world, is the mutts nuts in the rough but tiresome on a motorway The TD5...
