TC ABS and HDC Lights (3 Amigos)

Oh, you'll get slammed for this :D It's about the oldest question on here However - endless references to circuitous threads really doesn't help. Depending on model/year - the brake lights can still work with the 3 amigo fault showing. Easiest, cleanest and cheapest fix is to get...

Fuel Burning Heater Timer - Wiring

About 4 years ago, when I bought mine, - I looked at the remote switch for the TBH so I could blip it from the kitchen  The kit included that silencer and cost a whopping £1400 from the dealer. Needless to say, I go out and warm it up a bit earlier :D

Hi From a Newbie in Snowbound Glasgow

Who passes on cars without key remotes? Seems the oddest practice to me, I can imagine all sorts of scenarios - most not good

    O/s Front windows cables

Well, it would leave £40 for the wife's crimble present. Happy days :)

    O/s Front windows cables

I picked up a whole brand new winder mechanism with motor and cables etc for around £50 new off evilbay last year Wasn't Britpart but someother copy, seems to work - and that was only because one of my spools had failed

    O/s Front windows cables

Haven't tried those, but I did make my own cables up It would seem the plastic spool can be damaged easily and there is a company supplying one with a set of cables for not much money. If you buy stainless - they'll outlast your transmission or electrics which is the most likely thing to...

    Really strange and dangerous problem

My appologies Austin, I just read another thread and realised who you are (wouldn't have guessed from the opening post, and wondered what you meant then) Makes my transmission statement look naive :D

New Wheels On My 2003 Freelander

That is right on the cusp My TD4 is a December 2000 registration, one of the early ones I have to be very careful when buying parts - must go by VIN and effective Maunfacture Year of 2001 If I go by the registration plate or actual manufacture date then I get the wrong stuff - like Handbrake...

    Really strange and dangerous problem

Possible, but don't rule out transmission lock up in those circumstances

Freelander clunk turning left or right

Which bushes did you change? sounds like diff mount - but a bit new for that what tyre/wheel combo do you have?
  12. M

    Really strange and dangerous problem

Never heard of it, but has the fluid been changed regular? Could be the ABS/TC pump being triggered by an HDC function call in the software/wiring

Engine takes ages to warm up!

On a cold morning/day/evening, when the ambient temp has dropped below 5deg C - - upon starting your engine - you'll hear a ghostly roar from under the front left bumper. This wll sound like a small jet engine and will be acccompanied by exhaust smoke under said area. It usually freaks...

New Wheels On My 2003 Freelander

Probably not as the disc/caliper sizes are different after 2000 - unless those wheels originally came off a later model. However I have a set of 16" in the for sale section that would fit.

    Another Problem - interior lights

Same for me - clean up the earth contact on the pcb in the roof unit not a big job. Condensation gets up there, but the roof arial mount is just above - and that can leak as well
  16. M

    Quick wheel question

Earlier than facelift - it's to do with the larger discs and rear drum design which came in late 2000 - as on all TD4

    Quick wheel question

The abscence of dots/dimples does not mean they won't fit Mine fit and don't have any

    Remember to save the pain

Only way I can see is to defrost them thoroughly However, over the years I have found that "Rainex" applied properly inside and out BEFORE the bad weather goes a long way to help The other way is to buy a Half-Car cover from someone like Halfrauds measure to get the right one that will cover...

    Freelander 2 snow chains

I have found the Freelander to be incredibly good on snow and ice, as said, a good set of AT tyres works wonders Out of interest, anyone ever tried "SnowSocks"? AutoSock/Auto Sock. The Textile wheel cover for Driving in Ice and Snow.Auto Socks get you Home!

    TD4 Auto gear box problem?

Always good to start with checking those brakes, easy and free to rule out. There will be some resistance in turning compared to a front wheel drive because they you are rotating a diff, the other wheel and the propshaft. Now you can turn to the gearbox. Do the wiring checks first - after...
