Just noticed on the sprocket end of the cam shaft there's a small flat area on the bearing surface, is this normal ? Also invested new shafts on ebay for about £50 does anyone have any experience of them and are they any good ? If they are OK at that price thinking it may be worth putting one...

Just got a top and bottom gasket and seals from Turners also got some rebuild oil . The head was fine no similar dents to the pistons . Can't help thinking something has happened and a replacement head put on and then put up for sale knowing its knackered

What do you guys do about gaskets when rebuilding? Do you just use new gaskets or sealant as well and if so which would you recommend please ?

Some photos to look at as asked for yesterday and two of one of the pistons that has damage that I assume is from a dropped valve at some time in its earlier life and probably is a result of the crack down the side

Ha ha yes, I rebuilt the carb with a kit set timing new plugs, leads points , condenser all the usual things but it would only tick over for a short time took the head off and cleaned and replaced the valve stem seals then head back on but no joy so decided to strip engine. Turns out the boars...

I will get some more photos tomorrow, not really had it running I bought it as seen not driven it I the seller seemed genuine and was rebuilding another landy to a very high standard so I bought it . To be fair to him he did not describe it as running and just showed me round it and I got it...

A couple of photos of crank , there's some very slight groves can be felt if finger nail is rubbed across bearing surface .
