    SRS light won't go out.

My new (to me) TD5 Disco II does this too! Did you ever find out what it is? I get a feeling that if I keep taking it back to the garage during my 3 month warranty, they'll never find this source of this intermittent fault  Cheers James

    Towbar Electrics & Wading

Bit of a strange question.... What happens if you're wading and the water goes above the electrics sockets on the tow bar? Mine are below the allowed maximum wading height (I think). Are the standard caravan-type sockets watertight enough for a bit of a soaking as they are? My towbar is...

    Did you know? (Getting Lashed)

Cool!! Gonna put a bid in! Didn't realise they just bolt on??! Thought they would have been welded to the chassis! Wonder why mine was removed

    offroad ability?

I've been VERY impressed, even with my limited experiences. It's the vehicle's traction (especially if you have Traction Control) that seems to work so well, even with average tyres. The only problems I encounter are with ground clearance. And not just overall height - it's the rear part of the...

    Did you know? (Getting Lashed)

Sorry if this is common knowledge, but I though I'd share! Flicking through the owner's manual before, I found out that what looks like towing loops on the front and rear chassis of the FL (not the ones sticing through the bumper) aparrently must not be used for towing/recovery...

    Doing it in the UK....!?

...Can't blame you for that, either - It would have annoyed/upset me the same way. Hopefully there's still room somewhere for responsible wild camping, where "no trace" is left, but it is people like this who spoil it for everyone (as always) :(

    Doing it in the UK....!?

Scotland had always been on the list due to being the nearest things we'll get to wilderness in the UK! Did you have any particular regions or areas to recommend? ...Been looking at this on the map, very promising...

    Doing it in the UK....!?

Many thanks to you both! Those websites are very interesting, and I'm going to filter through some of those Lakes Routes. Yella, we actually went to Kielder forest this weekend with plans of finding a site up out of harm's way to camp up. We didn't have much luck though. As wel as being...

    Doing it in the UK....!?

Hi there, Myself and my friend are starting to accumulate some exped equipment with a view to completing a European trip next year (to get us started). We've both wild camped for many years, but only as hillwalkers up to now, and have just started to change our equipment for heavier overland...

    First proper 'offroad' experience

....Kind of as I suspected! :( Oh well, sure driving across to and around the island is still fun enough! :)

    First proper 'offroad' experience

Yup, I know Shell Island! Lovely place. Must go back there soon. I think I'd try and research access because a lot of dunes are ecologically protected areas - but obviously the Shell Island area is all about the camping so hopefully there's no damage to be done there. Thanks! James

    SilentLander

My 1.8 has a quite thick layer of felty foam under the whole bonnet! My temp seems to run fine (always just below half which I presume is normal) but by god it's hot under the bonnet when you lift the lid. Maybe it's there to protect the driver in case of engine explosion  :D

Sounds ace ... is it marked as a BOAT on the map, or will I need to find the route out somehow? If so, could you PM me? Thanks!

    First proper 'offroad' experience

Really interested about these back boxes, but Google is failing me! Anybody got any links? One part of the exhaust system that I noticed was really exposed was the 'kink' in the pipe that runs by the rear passenger-side suspension arms. Wonder if this would be improved with an aftermarket...

    First proper 'offroad' experience

When up and over the Wayfarer in Wales on Sunday, great day out. Freelander impressed me considering it didn't have low range etc. Stayed in first gear about 95% of the way, so clutch smelt a little bit burny by the end. Traction Control hardly even kicked in despite all the wet conditions...

Removable Tow Bar - What about the electrics?

Hopefully this isn't too daft a question. I think my tow bar is removable (It has a massive bolt through the central shaft that goes under the back of the car) and seems that I could undo this and take the towball bit off. ...But what normally happens with the electrics? (2 x sockets) I...
