diff oil change and auto box oil change

I know... Just can't face taking the sump off the auto box to change the filter. Or attempt to re-fill the thing with a syringe On the Wirral! James

diff oil change and auto box oil change

..And if you manage to do it okay you could be really generous and come and do mine for me ;) ...I'm still bottling out of doing this :(

Discovery 2 Noises - Not Serious, But Would Like To Identify? Help Please!

At the risk of turning this into another MPG thread, I drove from the Wirral to the Brecons last weekend, boot full, exped rack on with big tent, 3 up and got about 21.5 mpg very steady A roads, harldy going above 2000rpm or 56mph. :( Not the best, not the worst, I guess.

    Funny wurring noise

Are you sure it's not just the fuel pump priming? You can hear that when you switch the ignition on before starting the engine. If you have your climate control switched off completely, you won't hear that. The fuel pump noise is a metallic dull whirring noise, and 'seems' to come from the area...

    Clutch Problem

Same happened to mine too whn I had it. £60-70 for the bits, half an hour to repair. You have to replace the whole unit, it's sealed so you can't fix it. James Nice forum name BTW ;)

Discovery 2 Noises - Not Serious, But Would Like To Identify? Help Please!

Your Auto TD5 won't go into final drive, no matter how you rev up and down, until the temp gauge is up to half way/normal running temp. Keep going on the motorway and it should fall into final drive when the needle gets halfway, without re-revving down and up again. I just knock 10-15mph off my...

    DISCO td5 Fuel Consumption.

Last weekend I used £60 worth driving from the Wirral to Buxton, 'round the area a little bit for 2 days, and back. Did have 4 people, a boot full (and I mean FULL) and an exped rack full too though. And it's an auto. And going there, we went the 'scenic' rount past the Cat & Fiddle...

    auto box oil

Is this the same for the TD5? I believe you have to remove a little plug right under the car to check the auto box oil on a TD5. This (above) sounds like a much more sensible setup.

    TD5 ECU stage 1 tune

Congratulations! Very jealous now. ;) Would be interested to see how enconomy suffers, if at all? Or even improves?! Are you Auto or Manual? My 2-year plan for mine (Auto) is: Performance air filter Chip / Remap Intercooler & Silicone Hoses Performance Exhaust ..Probably in that order...

    Air Suspension

Maybe you're a bit light :D When running/driving, the car needs to add a bit of air to keep it all level especially with passengers/weight etc. When you switch off, get out and stopp bouncing around in it, it hisses for a few secs and drops an inch or so to return to a true 'sitting' height...

    Check Auto Box Oil (TD5)

Let me know how you get on Sharkey - I'm still building up the courage to do this job.. At the moment I've decided to tackle the engine oil and filters by myself but not the auto box oil... At the moment I'm going to let the garage do this one :( One of the biggest things putting my off is...

    Supermarket Fuel

I can detect a diffference in my Td5, definately. Supermarket petrol is worst performer, Shell is better, but BP fuel is the best in my experience. Most noticably in accelaration between 10-40mph. My local BP has just started selling ultimate deisel but it's around £1.01 a litre. Doesn't perform...

    Straightening the Steering Wheel

Right - Tried this last night but it wasn't too successful :( Basically, I undid the two clamp bolts that tighten the U-clamps... fine. tried adusting the big nut but all it did was twist the entire bar backwards and forwards, pivoting on the ball joints at the end. So I held the big black...

    air springs (sls)

Obviously you need to try and catch the source of the leak during this time! Have the soapy liquid ready! Or to be fair, if it's coming out that fast, you should be able to hear it?
