Got a 52 plate myself,manual. There's no diff-lock, Traction Control does it automatically. I'd say fit a manual box, but with your traffic conditions in N Lancs you'll need an auto. Check the micro-swtches on the auto-box

Had similar problem after LR stealer re-spray (insurance job - not mine). Just get some bathroom silicone sealer & fill in the hole, go as far as you want along the seal. did mine 2 yrs ago & it's still fine:welcome::)

If you want more mpg, I recommend removing the viscous fan & go electric. Mine cost me around £160, but after fitting I noticed an increase of about 10% in mpg. It's paid for itself in under 6 months.
