Hi all I've got a 98, 300tdi and the sump has got a hole in it right at the front where it looks like a stone has hit it and it had to hit a rusty part so it has gone right through. I was looking to weld it up but it seems that by the time I've got the grinder to it to make it back to good metal...

Right I've got a 1998 d1 300tdi. When I put on the cruise control it seems to work OK but if I'm sitting at 50mph it drops down to 45mph ish then accelerates back up to 50mph then down then up no matter what I do it just keeps on doing this. I have changed all the pipes as these had gone rotten.

I did think of that so I put the air con on to see if any change and there wasn't much. Also the gears seem to be longer on this than any other auto I've had I have looked in the book but cant find anything about the gear change speeds etc

Thanks for all the replies. Just a thought then if the heat is as it should be then maybe wrapping the underside of the tunnel in heat shield mat could help? what you guys think? Also as I'm new to Land Rovers how many questions about things on mine do you think I could ask before people start...
