Hello. Just got the landy back complete with new crossmember :D I have given the x-member two coats of red oxide, and Im going to paint it black with hammarite, and tetroseal the rear of the x-member. What Im wondering is should I hammarite the rear of the x-member as well as tetroseal it...

No worries, yeah I couldn't be more pleased with it, I just need the bloody thing fitted, painted and some underbody-seal on the back, then I can start carting some sticks home again!!!! Cheers :)

I fitted it all up before I took it to my mate for welding, it fits fine, I will post pics from the back once I have it back, its easier then trying to explain. In the mean time here are some pictures of the of Pressbrakes x member, a work of art!

Ok, here you go; So it looks like a Dixon plate, but its not, its home made and again 8mm thick; And here the two holes at the top have m8 or m10 bolts through which attach into the towing plate, its a tight fit to get the "Dixon" plate into the top towing plate (have to use a lump...

Ok, errmmmm, yeah, why? :confused: Just aesthetics, or do you not think it is not capable? It is about 8mm thick, so I recon it would be way stronger then off the shelf brackets, especially when welded with Pressbrakes recovery point, that would be 9 blots attached to a 6mm crossmember with...

When I first got the landy it had a nato hitch on as well as the towing bracket. I had the nato hitch taken off as it got in the way when uncoupling the trailer (I had a ball hitch at the time, now a pin and eye hitch). I sold the nato hitch ages ago, sorry.

Ok, that didn't work.... Im getting a weld put up the side of the recover point and the towing plate.

Its not that bad, in fact now that it's off and and stripped back to the metal it looks pretty good, will post a pic later.

Either way its gonna get done, and I have a bloody ace x-member. If I had more time I would have sent the towing bracket down to pressbrake, but I couldn't wait that long, needs must!
