    TOTAL MYSTERY Coolant Loss!!!!

AHHH!! Thanks for that...at least that's a bit closer to where mine is:):) I had noticed that if you fill with the bleed screw off, it comes out of the bleed hole before it reaches the mark on the seam.....Why is the arrow moulded into the header tank on the seam line?

    TOTAL MYSTERY Coolant Loss!!!!

Yes, I do...I SHOULD BE SO LUCKY!!!!!!!!!!........my "stable" coolant level when cold is a barely visible 1cm above the bottom of the tank...when its hot it often disappears...! I am not going to throw any more money at it unless I can come up with something that explains where the fluid is...

    TOTAL MYSTERY Coolant Loss!!!!

That is what they have done in the garage. It went in yesterday morning and they fixed a tiny seeping leak on the pump outlet, exposed all the coolant pipework so they could see the joints then did the leakdown test.....NOTHING VISIBLE...they left it at pressure all today and it was still over...

    TOTAL MYSTERY Coolant Loss!!!!

Yes I agree with your head gasket comment; it would also produce an overpressure and the system is,if anything, rather low on pressure. I think a high up leak could stabilise though because I have run the engine from cold at this very low water level without the air bleed screw in and in this...

    TOTAL MYSTERY Coolant Loss!!!!

Thanks but its not the head gasket; all gas tests have come up clear. And the coolant is definitely not coming out of the overflow - i extended the overflow into the cab with a vented bottle on the end to check that whilst I was running....still had the same initial coolant loss

OK...I did say I was crap with forums cos I filled in my "About Me" but can't see anywhere for "signature"...will have to spend a bit of time learning my way round the site....cheers

It should be "The 4 Amigos"!!!!

For those that followed my thread on the three amigos, the problem can be just about anything in the damn sub-system... but would you believe it.....MINE WAS JUST THE FLAT REAR TYRE!!!!!!! Now, if the system is SOOOOOO sensitive to the small change in wheel speed due to one tyre at 25psi, why...

    Steering box adjustment ANY TIPS?

PS...... mine is the same as yours...can't work out where to enter my vehicle details so they show up on my profile....you would never guess just how amazingly intelligent I actually am....2 degrees and a post-graduate degree does not stop one being a lazy git!.......I should use that as a...

Sorry...got a very short attention span and patience threshold with forum architecture:rolleyes:...but i did actually look beyond page 1, so must have missed it. Thanks for the link..I have RAVE but just wanted to check that there wasn't any easy tips.. so knowing it can be done with PAS...

    Steering box adjustment ANY TIPS?

Hi I need to do this and would normaly do something minor like this myself (but have busted hand at the moment). Is it easy to get to and do myself? Any tips on doing it? If its not easy I will ask the garage to do it when it goes in at the end of the week to have a hose replaced.

    D2 Air Suspension Gremlins

I would change to springs then unless you really use need the benefits of the air bags.....its just one more complicated electro/mechanical system to have to keep replacing bits on...ride height sensors have a limited life as well...they are cheap enough and easy to fit but when I had to replace...

    TOTAL MYSTERY Coolant Loss!!!!

I forgot to add.....don't lose sight of the fact that, until this bottom hose started to leak, the low level never gave me a problem except it did eventually need a bit more put in as the heater would stop....once the hose is fixed, at worse, i hope to back in a stable, though abnormal...

    TOTAL MYSTERY Coolant Loss!!!!

OK Dave...it isn't going to the garage until Friday so will get back with an update in a week; I am getting them to have a look for possible external leaks including this plug in the head whilst they are under the bonnet - so here'e hoping we find it Mike

    TOTAL MYSTERY Coolant Loss!!!!

Thanks very much for this.....I have asked many times before if anyone knows if there is an external core plug or something similar high up on the engine but nobody has mentioned this so I assumed there wasn't...this could well be the problem cos it would also be the reason it holds pressure...

    Cheap power increase

You are absolutely right in what you say; i used to design the combustion chambers in engines, gas turbines actually but the principles are all the same. There are many examples of engine combustion systems where using something less than pure, cold air produces more efficient combustion..and...

    D2 Air Suspension Gremlins

As the saying goes "the Management accepts no responsibility for collateral damage......." i.e. its not something I want to put on the open forum...don't want to be sued cos somebodies 9yo has read his dad's posts and given it a try with his die cast Landy in his mum's best microwave!!!-...

    Cheap power increase

I fitted one of the better (but more pricey) power commanders and am very pleased with it. It has the advantage that, once set up/self-calibrated, it can be switched on or off from the dashboard...I only use it when I am towing with two horses in the trailer, a total of 2.5 tonnes and it makes a...

    TOTAL MYSTERY Coolant Loss!!!!

Right...here is what happened........ARGGHHH! Lost half a resevoir of fluid after several hours running on the drive, some at high revs and though I did find a SMALL leak (a) it only dripped about 100ml into the tray I put under the car all day, and (b) its on the pump outlet hose so its so low...

ABS + TC + HD Amber Lights come on??

As the fault is intermittent (cos the lights always re-set if the ignition is turned off then on), am I right to assume that the fault may actually only last a few seconds and though the lights stay on, its quite likely the ABS will still operate if required? (I know that once the lights come...
