Yes, I would say that's exactly what happened. So would you suppose when originally manufactured or the car had the rear main replaced? I've got to say the torque settings on the sump were all over the place, some of the bolts had thread lock on others didn't.

I just checked for my own piece of mind and yes I can see the grommet on Rave. I wonder if they didn't fit them to the very late cars, perhaps they ran out of stock at the factory?

That's exactly what I have too on the drivers side. Mine doesn't have a one way valve either but I can't imagine why it would.

Are you sure Wammers? Kermit says that he can pour water in his left hand drain and it comes out on the drivers side. Presumably I should be able to see the end of the tube with a flashlight?

Yes I remember seeing that post but dismissed it at the time as every other post I had read suggested that each corner drain tube came out behind its respective wheel arch. Perhaps I should have taken more notice.:oops:
