don't know what the bypass is or how to locate it lol, I am very much new to these cars and diy on cars in general, but want to try myself.

is this the thermostat: Thermostat - STC3338 | Range Rover P38A | Range Rover | British Parts UK Just need that and the o-ring? Reason I ask is it's £6.62 there or £25 on eBay??

See I do wish to fix this car, ideally myself, but not 100% how to go about it. Viscous fan was replaced, coolant flushed and refilled. Stat/pump not changed though.

I think he was hinting more at costs being too much with regards to the value of the car which I agree with to be honest. Would be looking upwards of a grand :( ..could probably sell it as is for that and be done with it.,

Do you have a link that explains everything I'd need to attempt it myself? I was told the head would need skimmed and everything, seems beyond my skill limit.

So I've got an overheating issue, had it in the garage and they told me the symptoms appear to be the head gasket, but they can't do that work and told me to phone a specialist. Did that and he recommended to remove the compressor and run it without that first as he's seen that several times...

yes was overheating at higher revs/speed viscous fan was recently replaced with a brand new one.

What sort of £££ am i looking at if it is the head?

Well, drove it home 15 miles just now. It sits steady just over 12 o clock til you need the power for going up hill for example, when you have it sitting at 3k or so revs for a wee while the temp climbs back up to red. I took it easy and it sat fine, again just past 12. Still got the old issue...

Back to it today! There is a steady stream of coolant out the little hole in the top of the expansion tank. Should i leave it idling with the cap on or off? Why does it overflow out the expansion tank when i turn the engine off When its up to temp?

Should it have a belt on it? seems like it was disconnected completely if that plug was for it too

also, what is that part at the top of this pic that has the pulley with no belt on: and the plug with the green wire in the middle of this pic, what's that for as it was disconnected: If any of these things have to do with air suspension then that's fine as this range rover has...

No but if i squeeze the rad tubes water does come out it.

The issue im having is coolant is rising over 5-10 min of the engine running. When i turn the engine off it bubbles and overflows. What am i doing wrong??

So have i overfilled as i did start the engine and topup to cold level. Left it running for 10 min and the engine temp shot up and the coolant started overflowing out the expansion tank. Whats happened?

Sorry not at home so no rave manual. Do i want it sitting at the cold level when the engine is warm?

Do you fill it to the cold level marker with the engine off or turn the engine on and jeep filling to the cold level? Thanks
