in that case i think i will repair the one i have got and weld the gearbox cross member just behind it for extra strength. I'll have a look tomorrow and if it doesnt look feasable I will just have to bite the bullet and fork out the cash.
I think i'll just weld in the gearbox x-member in its place considering it costs less than a third of the price and im probably gonna smash it again sometime.

I obviouisly know its steel.....but i wasn't sure what grade. (although after re-reading my 1st post it does say what metal :crazy:) Mild steel is the answer I was looing for. Thanks 90truckcab. Ive never heard of the paper mushy trick. Im gonna have to try that one.

Hopefully I will have my landy well by the bank holiday then. I have managed to source a replacement diff and will get a new gear box x member for my mate to weld next week.
Dont suppose anyone has a series 3 diff lying around they want to sell? Carpy you'll learn quickly with regards to mechanics because you own a Landy! lol
