Cant remove battery cover from p38 keyfob

    1. Use a coin, not a screwdriver 2. Note the tiny arrows on the cap and on the FOB, they need to be aligned for the cover to open 3. Rotate in the opposite direction of the curved arrow on the cover Typical LR engineering

P38 spontaneous rise to extended height

I had this in my previous P38 as well, how about you guys? I drive along in town at slow speed, and suddenly the suspension rises to extended height. What is going on?

    iPad and RAVE

I have been using my Mac for that, forgot to mention. I think for the PC the rave file structure is different, and the pdf's are a bit protected. Why not try to download the mac version, find the file you need (they are simple pdf's there) and sync through iTunes. Try under the app tab for your...

    iPad and RAVE

I have had Rave "running" on my iPad for sometime now. Basically just copy the Rave PDF files you are interested in to iBooks or any other app that can handle PDF's (plenty of them around but iBooks is free). Its a no-brainer and works like a dream. There is really no reason today to try to...

EAS debugging, or why it's good to own a Faultmate

Yes, it was a test run in the morning after starting up. Had the door open to inhibit the air flow system, hence all the closed valves. Of course it will still fill the reservoir and once full will turn the compressor off otherwise there is nowhere for the air to go to. This is when I took this...

EAS debugging, or why it's good to own a Faultmate

wammers, great explanation of the system's operation, opened my eyes I must say. But, the inlet valve does not necessarily have to leak to the high-pressure side in (against I should say) the normal flow path. I can also leak to the electromagnet housing via the larger of the o-rings sealing the...

EAS debugging, or why it's good to own a Faultmate

well, the thought did cross my mind, so I accelerated as slowly as you can imagine, practically on idle, with similar results. Additionally, the exhaust valve does not open, so air can not escape the front springs anyway... And, our P38 system is, by design, not dynamic and will not compensate...

EAS debugging, or why it's good to own a Faultmate

    Any reason why?

EAS debugging, or why it's good to own a Faultmate

I did change them all, but it makes a better story like that, doesn't it?... But, the inlet and exhaust valved can be renewed on the vehicle without removing the valve block, which is a nice thing to know.

EAS debugging, or why it's good to own a Faultmate

Guess what, the EAS of the 1996 DSE that I own for 5 months now has started acting up. And not in the usual way: no faults registered, no beeps and no error messages. What happened is that it would go fine and than, especially after accelerating from standstill in a traffic light, the front...

    DSE Loosing turbo?

Hi folks, Ended up deciding to redo the turbo. Not so much the missing pressure as the thick white smoke coming out of the exhaust. It was so bad i was stopped regularly by other drivers upset at the damage i was inflicting on our precious environment. Went to a LR specialist, he took the hoses...

    DSE turbo boost adjustment

Hi guys, Just installed a rebuilt turbo on my DSE. Turns out it was not adjusted properly and i hardly get any boost. Has anyone adjusted the turbo boost with the turbo in place on the car? Can the waste gate actuator be accessed from underneath the car? Is there enough space for adjusting...

    BMW 525 engine transfer problem

Just replaced my FIP with a unit from the breakers and the engine fired up first shot. There is no coding in the pump. There is coding in the EDC unit against the BECM and this may be your problem. Did you transfer the engine ECU (or EDC, Electronic Diesel Control)?

drove 12 feet on to the beech....!

Well, driving in sand: 1. Maintain momentum 2. Maintain momentum at all cost 3. Maintain momentum even if it means full throttle on your big V8 AND low range on the gearbox 4. Don't run over children even if you need to maintain momentum 5. Lower your tyre pressure a lot 6. Its like the stock...

    DSE fuel injection adjustment

It turned out that I was so focused on the FIP adjustment I neglected to properly connect the charging cable from the alternator to its prong on the starter motor. My fault entirely, nothing to do with the Range being a Range. Next, the turbo. After I get back from two months in Stanford, CA!

    DSE fuel injection adjustment

OK, hard to believe... Sometimes things just take a positive turn, even with a RR! My starter motor, a rebuilt unit replaced three weeks ago, failed. Took it out and back to the place I got it from and got another. Meanwhile, I thought, lets take a look at the flywheel sitting exposed with the...

    DSE fuel injection adjustment

Brilliant thought! :) I would never have guessed it. And, almost everyone have a contact in the military. Start to investigate... Although I have to put it off for a while since I am work-traveling until July. Thanks!
