How much rotational play should the front propshaft have. this much? Defender front propshaft. - YouTube getting a loud clonk everytime the the torque gets take up and Im puling away. Also when the handbrake is on it rolls a good 4" before it actualy stops. any help...

Also when the handbrake is on it moves a good 4-5" before stopping. Any more help would be appriciated,was thinking about starting a new thread

are you sure.I would have thought that it would be likey to cause more damage every time it bangs when it takes up the torque. oh i the handbrake.

Hi, Would that explain the play in the propshaft though?

hi so finaly draged my lasy ass under the thing today and......... Defenatly not the uj's no play in them on either propshaft.Rear propshaft is solid but the entire front prop shaft is rotating about 1" either way and making the clunk noise. where do I go from here chaps. just found...

pull it all off will probably leave a resudue,get the paint thinners out should wash it off. If its realy tough you may need to use the flat edge of a stanley blade.

yeh think this might be a good idea,then I wont have to sort it.

Hi, Not had a chance to get the fender in to have a look yet,but was thinking would it be better to just replace the prop shaft altogether obviously cost more but will take no time to fit it compared to taking the old uj's out.I take it new propshafts come with the uj's

Hi, Getting one clock noise when I pull off in most gears just an inital one clonk when I press the accelorator.Seems to be more apparent when low revs.Not engine related sounds more like somthing loose in the clutch,driveshaft,gearbox,acc pedal? Did use search but couldnt find a similar...
