TD4 Fuel Problem MIL light comes on

Argh. A rather despondent update. I've taken the regulator off the HP pump and changed the green O-ring to a new black one from a kit of various sizes, it's a pretty good match and is fuel tolerant. Cleaned manifold (what a job! I used the oven cleaner technique) put it all back together and...

TD4 Fuel Problem MIL light comes on

Aha! Before I swapped out my Ebay LP pump for the LR one, the engine did once run on for a second or two. I thought that was odd at the time and wondered how that could happen. Well that's another pointer towards the fuel pressure regulator then. Thanks very much, cheered me up! OK, next...

5 minute job you should do to your Hippo..

Whilst I was changing the fuel filter and pump in the rear wheel arch, I had a look beneath the plastic sill end cap to see how things were bearing up. Just a couple of screws to remove it and mine was full of damp sand which must have been there over a year! I'll take the other side off...

TD4 Fuel Problem MIL light comes on

Anyone know how to measure the value of the LP fuel pressure sensor with DVM or 'scope? No idea what the value should be. Also, any DIY methods for measuring low side fuel pressure? Thanks.

TD4 Fuel Problem MIL light comes on

When I changed the filter and LP pump the final time, I ended up with the whole tray off the car, with sedimentor which I emptied. I applied my own 12v supply to the new parts with the tank pipe connected, but the engine outlet going in to a bowl. Fuel burbled through and after a few seconds...

TD4 Fuel Problem MIL light comes on

Hi, car is a 12/03 model Freelander TD4, 123K. Please help, this car has just ruined my day. This started when I noticed a pulsing/surging on mid throttle and there would be an increased detonation/pinking noise. After cleaning the EGR valve with no difference, I thought it could be a fuel...

Freelander '04 TD4 Fuel Pump, filter, sedimenter and ???

Thanks, yea - I know, probably a false economy, but as it turns out the fault I'm trying to fix (surging/pulsing every second or so at tickover or whilst driving) didn't make any difference so at least I've not wasted the £120+. Next to change in order: Fuel rail pressure sensor and harness...

Freelander '04 TD4 Fuel Pump, filter, sedimenter and ???

Ah yes! I'd forgotten that would have it's own pump. Thanks!

Freelander '04 TD4 Fuel Pump, filter, sedimenter and ???

Hi, just changed the wheelarch filter and pump. Disappointed that the new pump (from Ebay) is REALLY loud, and hearing the odd air bubble go through even though I've done a few miles. Anyway, I didn't know what the extra device was, as in the photo. Any ideas? It's a standard part, but extra to...

Extra connector near fuel rair sensor

    OK, that's great. Thanks!

Extra connector near fuel rair sensor

Just to be clear, the extra connector is nothing to do with the aftermarket box, it seems to be part of the standard LR loom.

Extra connector near fuel rair sensor

Nah, it's a cheap box and to be honest I can't feel any difference with it out of the loop. Any idea what the black/orange connector is for?

Extra connector near fuel rair sensor

Hi all, first post so go easy. Car is a Freelander TD4 registration date 31/12/03 so a facelift version. I've been trying to trace an engine issue (hunting, intermittent lack of power when pulling away, drop in power at motorway speeds etc) but I'll follow this up in a different post. Anyway, I...
