Well I have the 90 back now with the new 200tdi installed. It's got the new rad and intercooler in, and they kept the twin kenlow fans that were fitted when it was a TD. Air filter has been moved to just behind the radiator, modified bit of an exhaust to feed to it. Quite a tidy job all in all...

what's the worst that could happen if I disconnect the +ive on the battery, chop into the thick white wire as quoted with my stereo one, and then reattach the battery. Fuse's going pop, or worse?

I thought that was the case - I've previously had amps wired up and from memory the blue one was always the remote for that. Cheers for clarifying.:) Now fingers crossed for a response on where to attach the switched +ive and I'll be away!

Just had a thought, my stereo may not be dead. The blue with white stripe wire which I believe to be the remote wire I've not attached, and from checking other "wiring from scratch" threads on t'internet they've all said the remote wire needs to be attached to the ignition or something else that...

Right - I've just tried the red and yellow combined to the red (+ive) from the ciggy lighter with an inline fuse, and black to black. I've got no power to that head unit what so ever, presumably the wiring is alright and I've check both fuses in the head unit and the inline fuse, both of which...

Cheers - so if I've got the consant +ive and -ive, how do I go about the switched one? The adapter that I have has a red (+ive) black (-ive) blue (presumably a remote wire for turning an amp on) and yellow - the previous owner had wired an orange lead with an inline fuse but this wasn't attached...

The 87 90 I bought had what was described as a stereo that didn't work, and numerous "****e" speakers dotted about the cab. I've stripped the whole lot out and left what I thought was the loom with the adapter plug thing stuck to the end. Now I've dabbled in installing sound systems in the past...

That's settled then - no seatbelts for me. Mine's an '87, used to be a truck cab apparently and now a county hardtop, so there's definitely nothing to show seat belts have ever been used there...that's one job out of the way...

Ian - that's helped loads. I had a feeling I'd need a little helper, not being too sure how to hold one bit inside and the other outside! Maybe I'll get the seats fitted for now, and sort out the lap belts later on...

Hi Folks I've got 4 folding seats that were shoved in the back when I bought my 90. Separate backs on a frame and seats (with the hinged brackets at the back and swinging hinged leg at the front), with no fixings - any tips on how to get them fitted in?:confused: I figure the back supports...

Well mine's done well at £152k then...shame I haven't had it 5 mins, but it was always a gamble getting one with that kind of mileage...

I've had numerous different people say it's likely to be cracked piston or similar, and the most economical solution is a 200tdi conv. Anybody got one?

Righto - I've tried removing the dip stick whilst it's running today, and no oil is spluttering out. Starting was it's usual self - long pause on the glow plugs, cranks a few times fires and dies. It took four attempts to get it going this time. i've read on other threads about other peoples...
