Just an update, my mechanic thinks it could be the threaded plugs in the head that are leaking, I think they are located either side of the camshaft, does anyone know what I'm on about? Cheers.

Could this be a core plug? Was suggested today just wondered cheers guys.

Indeed. I could get a whole other car for that, but then maybe it's better the devil you know, I might take it off the road (again) until winter and hopefully I might have got it fixed by then. The tax is up at the end o the month as well.

Hmmmm, yes it was bright cherry colour and quite pure as I say no emulsification apart from some on the inside of the cam cover.

Ok so I found out where the coolant was going, into the oil. It's been pushing oil out of the top of the dipstick so I took the cam cover off to see if the filter inside was clogged and found a puddle of coolant under the camshaft :) I didn't think that just because a sniff test comes back the...

Still doing it, going to try a different cap.

Ok so I blew through the hose and also ran the engine briefly with it off so that coolant flowed out, now there is a steady flow of coolant coming from the breather pipe into the expansion tank, only been on a short trip and it hasn't pushed any more through the overflow yet.

The cap is bearmach, is there any way to make sure the bleed hose is clear without compressed air as I don't have access to any, ie could I just take it out and drain it or blow through it? Cheers.

I only fill it to the cold line, what could cause overpresurrising if not the head gasket? Cheers.

A new development, after the car had been running there was coolant on the bodywork underneath the breather pipe that comes out of the expansion tank next to the cap.

Yeah that confused me as well for a minute, I'll have a look, when I squeeze the two big radiator hoses bubbles appear in the expansion tank so maybe an air lock but surely it will eventually all come out. Thx

Hi, sorry forgot to mention I've done the o rings, the oil doesn't seem creamy at all, also when I've taken the cap off and revved the engine to try and bleed any air the coolant level did drop, if there is a leak somewhere can the coolant just evaporate away? Cheers gaz.

Hi all, I tried a search but couldn't find anything, the coolant level seems to be dropping a little over a few days, the system has been pressure and sniff tested which revealed a dodgy cap which I've replaced. There isn't any visible leaks so I a little lost, any help appreciated.

I found that by disconnecting the blue wire I started getting engine disabled routine, not sure why.

I know this is a wanted thread, but the fluid is getting changed soon anyway, I tried ashcroft but it's not something they stock, thanks anyway.

Sorted! Many thanks to mark1971, connected a wire from the ecu casing to a mounting bolt on the body and she works again.
