I mean half way to the cold arrow, another cap gone, the top unscrewed leaving the rest stuck inside the header tank!

Hello all, I just thought I would post an update on this saga, so I replaced the water pump, however it still pushes coolant out of the cap and overflow. Keeping the coolant level only half way up the tank reduces this, it doesn't overheat apart from when going up a big hill at speed it started...

Coolant level all good, if it was a burp would it only happen once? This happpens everytime.

Ok so changed thermostat and put a different fan on today, what i noticed was that at idle the heater air was either barely warm or cold but when revved suddenly warmed up. Now am I right in thinking the water pump is u/s? Cheers.

Ok so still having this issue, had to be recovered again, this time to the garage where the car is now. They are a bit mystified, a sniff test showed nothing and on a test drive the temperature was fine until the end when the gauge shot up, they suspect the sensor but it's still pushing coolant...

NO LONGER required.

Maybe, I don't suppose there is anything I can do if it has gone.

So maybe not, temperature shot up again yesterday, fluid all over the expansion tank, level way up inside, I'm pretty sure the fan is to blame as after stopping it just span around freely with no resistance. It was only replaced last year, must be another crap part.

ok so I replaced the rad which has solved the issue of coolant dribbling out of the overflow however now the car hardly gets up to temperature, whereas before it was always exactly in the middle of the gauge now it is more to the cooler side. The thermostat stays closed and then opens so maybe...

Ok so there was no crud around the rad however it has split on the plastic part right along the top, now the man at the shop said that only happens due to overpressure, however we have ruled that (at the expansion tank) out so I'm wondering how that has happened. Is it worth taking the water...

Had to be recovered from town today, temperature shot up and the blower would only blow cold, however at one point it suddenly blew hot and the temperature dropped. My thoughts are either blocked rad or water pump u/s, the leak from the rad has also got worse, cheers.

I think the pump was Quinton Hazell, maybe the thermostat too, how do you go about checking the baffle?
