now ive taken that pic it looks to me like the seal is coming out with the shaft! is that normal? still cant shift it, i know i aint the strongest bloke but im sure it should have budged by now!

oh yeah thats the other thing, the breather pipe on a 2004 TD4, does it just push into the diff housing? i looked online and found a detailed post for an earlier model that showed a bolted setup, looking at mine, its nothing like that and no visible way its retained.

from what i can see, everything looks fine apart from the seals. im no expert but it all looks ok to me.

well i just crawled under the car and swung on the prop shaft, no movement. i then clambered under the back end n shoved n pulled on the rear diff and no movement there either. im presuming if the diff mountings were shot there would be movement somewhere!? looking at the mountings if it was one...

well, the saga is still going on! having snapped a brand new cracker bar on it, i managed to get a neighbours son to nip round with a more heavy duty socket set and with the aid of a scaf bar, it shifted :D but, i havent had time to do it untill now, so been out there for an hour this morning...

no joy! 2 ft cracker bar + 6ft iron bar = not today thankyou! cannot shift it, so looks like its going into a garage grrrrrr

just bought a new cracker bar, combined with the scaff bar it should shift it! just to confirm, double check, it is normal hand thread right? i do keep checking but soemones just asked me and put doubt in my mind lol

well, first attempt at cracking it off this morning resulted in a snapped ratchet! i think i might have to admit defeat and pay a garage to do it. cant afford to snap any more tools on one stupid nut lol
