here but its soundin like a lota hassle for minimum gain so ill probly just use the engine and sell the gearbox on i think.. thanks to everyone for the help and information.

im sure ive got a disco 200tdi and original lt77 in at the moment. i was realy just wonderin how much of hassle it would be to stick disco gear box in while i had it.....

its a disco tdi already in there, i will just swap the engines over if swappin the gear box aswell isngoin to be a trauma... i was just wonderin if disco gear box would fit easily cus my current lt77 has seen better days and i hear r380's are nicer box's aswell??? also figure ill have it all...

Drivin it 40miles today, all seems good back to normal but am still hettin alot of smoke fromoil filler cap

Smoke is pushed out tje filler hole at iddle but wen you rev it just kinda creeps out

Considerable, seems to have some presseure behind it. Yes got water in engine durin removal, so could just be that im hopein... You mean the 120 betwwen gaps on piston ringsclose enough

Well back together seems to be running great..... One thing though, gettin smoke from the filler cap now does this mean ive done a crap job on the head gasket?

Well think i found the issue, broken oil control ring on number 3. Now puttin it back together so fingers crossed problem sorted

I have all the caps taken off intact all valves look the same it was the creaseing/craking type marks around the edge is was wondering about? I think the tappit gaps where larger and needed adjusting.... Didnt realy know much about them till recently now that ive read up on it... Will be settin...

So would tappets bein out also give ya plooms of smoke and bad startin? Its hard to pinpoint the moise cant realy here with ya head under the bonnet youv gota be stood abit away from the engine till ya hear it then its very clear

Yeah will be redoin tappits, hopefully should make some difference to.the sound, but doesnt account for loss of power and all the smoke i dont think. Im gona pull the pistons on saturday and check the rings, then ill just reasemble and fingers crossed

Right so ive got the head off now, nothin wrong with valves all looks inorder no signs of anything bad. I know the timing is right atleast for the fuel pump.... So am i now lookin at a broke piston ring?

Hey so had another look today, tried loosenin injectors to no avail however the front injector has oil comeing out from around it when loose! What does that mean sure it shldnt be happenin? Also i checked my pump timing and it was slightly out, adjustedit it via the 3 bolts under the plate on...

Do you mean just watch them with the engine runnings and roker cover off?
