To carrier, or not to carrier

Thanks very much. Sounds ideal really. Thanks for the pictures. That looks a lot of weight to be on the carrier with the bikes on. Impressive! BTW there's some cracking pictures in there! Nice work!

Are you happy with your Paddock carrier?

To carrier, or not to carrier

No room in the back either as I need the room. It's either on the back, or at home.

THAT is a BEAST! Like it!

Not keen on having a bonnet mounted one, but thanks for the reply. It would be a 235/85 on a Boost alloy, and it's not going off-road really. Part of me thinks a Defender 'NEEDS' a rear mounted wheel to look right, but another part of me is thinking about saving some cash!

Hi all My 90 Hard Top doesn't have a spare wheel carrier. Due to not wanting one attached to the door, and door hinges at a slightly odd height this is the only option for a rear carrier at a good price http://www.paddockspares.com/pm287-paddock-swingaway-rear-spare-wheel-carrier.html My...

I did wonder that! So apparently I need M6 rivnuts for the mud flap mounts, please ignore my ignorance, but what size/length bolt would I want?

    Rivnut tool

The cheap ones go up to M8 I believe. Thing is, whatever bolts I need to make one with I don't have so would have to buy them anyway.

    Rivnut tool

I'm soon going to 'try' and replace my TD5 mud flaps and brackets. After reading about how badly it can go, I've decided to get the tools I may need now. Could you please recommend me a rivnut tool? There are quite a few on eBay and wasn't sure if the £12 one is upto any sort of job. Thanks...

Could the holes be cut in situ with a small blade?

I think that's one job I certainly won't be attempting!

I guarantee if I tried I would end up cutting a load of wires in half or something!!

I am beginning to think this is a good idea and am looking into getting someone to install some for me. Hopefully it won't cost too much!!

    Defender hardtop new speakers

Thanks very much. Think I'm getting a bit caught up in 'quality'. I would have preferred to have speakers in the dash that I could upgrade, but as I said not keen on cutting it about myself, so will have a look at those.

    Defender hardtop new speakers

Another thought I had, on top of the "front" speakers, was to put a pair of 6x9's into boxes in place of the 5.25's in the rear quarter panels. Maybe this would give a bit more depth?
