took a mechanic up there with me.with all his tools. 1,could not get any sort of spanner or socket between the radiator shroud and the engine to get to the crankshaft bolt from underneath...

i will do. thats the worst thing about some of the threads, they dont tell you what actually fixed the problem. you have to assume the last suggestion was what did it.

weather permitting , i will be doing it tommorrow afternoon,

i can get disabled brother to turn the key he has emphysema and cant do much without getting out of breath.

not with only one arm its not.hoping the timber will stay on starter whilst i hit it with a hammer.plus if the engine is seized there is no point going any further..

i am planning to test it in this sequence. 1. put socket on breaker bar connect to crankshaft and try turning engine over, if that works, then 2, hit starter whilst key being turned. so i need to take with me 1 breaker bar, 2.correct socket 3, hammer 4. 3ft piece of timber.

i still need to know what size socket i need to put on the crankshaft, as its 10 miles each way to get to it, and i want to have the right tools with me when i go up there.thanks

i dont think there is anything wrong with the solenoid, when you turn the key you get a solid clunk,which suggests the starter gear is flinging out but the engine does not turn over

just out of curiosity, which part of the starter do you hit? the solenoid or the motor itself?

ok will put in on charge and see if that makes a differance

unfortunately the parking space is directly off the side of the road, moving it forward even a foot would have it onto and blocking the road

sorry, manual. but parked on a steep slope, so would not be able to get it back up if it didnt start

can you get to it with the cowling still on?

what size spanner on the crank?

so it still could be a coincedence it not turning over after all this time?

the last time it was used was last year for its M.O.T. on the way to it it blew the radiator, they showed brother a picture of the crack all along the top of the radiator, they replaced the radiator and other components did the M.O.T. then drove it 10 miles back to his home where it has stayed...

battery supplier assured us it was fully charged, it read 12.47 v on the dvm.

does anyone on here live close to woolavington, somerset, that could come and have a look?.
