    weather not being kind, cold.strong winds and rain everyday this week so far. so not worth going up there to try to find out if engine turns over after removing thermoviscous fan.

    had mine over 21 years, only engine work needed has been. water pump replacement, radiator, cps(crankshaft position sensor), breather pipes unblock and replacement.

    i have contacted brother and asked him to try and get out there to look at the dipstick. but at moment it is windy, cold and raining.

    we dont know. it is 1/4" below max, but he never looked at it when it came back from garage last year to see if it was full or not.

    why are diesels so awkward to work on, on my petrol one this would be easy to do, just take the plugs out until you can turn the engine over?

    it has 2 water pipes one near each end of the radiator pointing towards the engine. there is no room to get the cowling up in between them.

    at least on my 4.0 ltr petrol i have an easily removable top section of the cowling the diesel does not .

    might be quite a while before we get around to doing that, brother is considering selling as spares or repair, since it cost him £1600 to get it through M.O.T. last year and hasnt used it since.

    yep as far as i can remember, i wasnt looking that closely at them dave the mechanic done some of the key operating so that i could see the engine move and then return.
