    97 Disco Won't Start

Then maybe do a search or open a thread in the "Disco. - Tech. Discussions" here: DiscoWeb Message Boards - that's the NA Land Rover forum. It could be a spider/alarm problem or something else. The issue is that the NAS (NA Spec) Discovery's are a bit different than EU models. For example 96...

    97 Disco Won't Start

My guess is you're from US so the disco is a V8 petrol. Automatic or manual trx?

    when turning the wheel!

There's a TSB dealing with such a problem (seems that the description fits the noises described in thread so far): Steering boot noise

    Td5

It will go straight in but I don't know if it will work. The EDC3 (euro3) engines have different ECUs, engine wiring harnesses, injectors, radiators and other bits and pieces. I think your mate will have to stick to EDC2 engines, from 1999(8) to 2001.

    Discovery II diagnostic port reading?

If forums are the places where you got the info from, why didn't you cross checked other forums as well? How about the german, french, italian ones? They have Td5's there as well you know ... The protocol used is LR proprietary. If you want to decipher it, go ahead. You'll be able to supply an...

    Discovery II diagnostic port reading?

I might agree with you on the fun part but why would you use an OBD to RS232 interpreter on a non OBD2/EOBD compliant ECU? It's like using a french<>english dictionary to translate some chinese words into english. Where's the fun part here?

    Discovery II diagnostic port reading?

    200 tdi fan belt

It doesn't sound like a problem to me if you have the disco since 1989 :) Tell us exactly what and how do you adjust the belt and maybe we'll be able to help.

    Fan and Heater

The worst thing to expect would be to replace the blower. You can get them SH from ebay from like 20 to 50 quid - the entire heater unit that is, except the heater matrix. To replace it you need to dismantle the dashboard, something like 3-5 hours work.

    Winterizing a TD5

Better ask the locals, they should now better. I wouldn't worry about -15 or even -20 as we get that kind of temperatures here as well, not as much snow though. There is at least one user from Sweden and one from Norway on this forum (disco d and garybrun respectively), maybe give them a PM...

    MTF-94 Gearbox Oil!

Jason, another option would be getting the Unipart MTF-94 from Allmakes France (www.almakes.fr). Log in their online store, http://83.206.253.195:5080/CCDISP.HTM, click "Simple visite" button and search for the reference GUL2622. They sell it in 2.5 litre bottles which is enough for an oil...

Me too, I don't drink coffee, I hate biccies unless covered in chocolate or alike, not much of a tea lover but in freezing winter days... But do u provide overseas delivery service as well? 'Cause I can't make it in time ... :) I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to take some pictures of the...

    Air con drains

It's been covered but not quite to the death. Have a look here: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/td5-air-con-drains-32961.html This is from a RR but it's about the same place as on tdis. The drips fall directly on the ground so no point looking for the drains between the gearbox and...

    V8 or TDi (Off Road)

This has nothing to do with cultures as there are people here mad about deep wading street legal or less legal 4x4s as well, everywhere else for that matter. One thing is going a normal depth of 50-75 cm (where it doesn't matter if it's a Tdi or a V8) and another thing to go until you submerge...
