My Dad's gonna recover me in a Shogun

Looks like the clutch just died...

It was on a hill. I had to roll backwards and get enough speed up to back over a grass verge then turn it 180 so it was pointing down so I could roll into the street that parallels the main road. It was the slowest, least dramatic J turn ever... I did try hi / lo / diff lock quite a few times...

Looks like the clutch just died...

I've done that a few times, when the clutch cable or cylinder goes that's a good way to get home. I'm pretty sure it's ripped the friction plate out or something similar as there's no drive at all, just a whirring sound. No props turning and diff lock makes no difference, all gears are the same...

Looks like the clutch just died...

Nice one, I'll get a decent replacement clutch and will stick a HD fork on it for good measure. Hope the weather holds off over the weekend, think it'll be Saturday before I can get the bits so its rip down time tomorrow!

Looks like the clutch just died...

A good start to the weekend - the clutch just gave up on the Landy. Bugger. It was only a few hundred meters from home though so it could have been worse, the worry is I have to leave it out in the wilderness tonight as I can't tow it to the workshop (my Dad's driveway) till tomorrow morning...

    Rick's 200tdi Tuning Guide

A really good write up there, I've done the main fuel adjustment and the wastegate before, I had to add an external spring to my wastegate to get up to 1 bar even after trimming the threaded bar down. I've not done the other bits though so it sounds like a job for next weekend!

That'll be why my heater is rubbish

Just in case any one was wondering, thought I'd post a few pics: This is the new heater box to bulk head seal compared to the actual opening in the bulk head: The windscreen wiper motor sits behind the blanked out bit so I couldn't open it all the way up, I just made a couple of cuts and...

That'll be why my heater is rubbish

Well it's all fitted now and it's an improvement, not exactly belting out the air but it is better. The lower vents are great throwing out loads of air but the de-mist is still lacking. There's obviously more to do on the ducting behind the dash, it looks like a really poor system for getting...

That'll be why my heater is rubbish

It should be in tomorrow, not sure how I'll demonstrate how effective it's been as air doesn't come across well on film lol. I'll think of something, the way I see it things can only get better! One thing I can say for sure is my nutsert tool is worth every penny I spent on it, every nut and...

That'll be why my heater is rubbish

First phase is complete, I've fitted a blower motor out of a Peugeot 106 (it was the best match in the scrap yard) and sealed up all the escape routes: I couldn't believe how bad the air box is as standard, there was air escaping everywhere! liberal use of closed cell foam and duct tape has...

    Just fitted a 2" lift

I used to clip it with my aerial and work light, then I fitted the bigger tyres and it wacked the light. Now I think it would hit the top of the windscreen! They leave it off at certain times for the trucks to pick the containers up so I try to time it right. They ain't bad as they let me in the...

    Just fitted a 2" lift

Good stuff, I put some 235 / 85/16's on it last year so the Landy must be nearly 4" higher now than when I got it. Can't get under the barrier at the tip now!

    Just fitted a 2" lift

First drive done (60 miles) and it handles better than before, less pitching / rolling and the steering feels a little lighter. The steering still returns to centre as it did before and I think the tram lining / moving around on the road is better but that bit could be in my head I've dipped...

    Just fitted a 2" lift

I did read that one, that was one of the threads that made me think I should just do it and find out for myself.

    Just fitted a 2" lift

After spending a heck of a lot of time reading reviews / researching / thinking I decided to bite the bullet and fit a 2" lift. I've read more pros & cons about this than I care to remember so I thought I'd just do it and see. I went for the Super Gaz medium duty kit, it looks great and seems...

That'll be why my heater is rubbish

That's what I've been doing today, it's currently soaking in the back garden for the third time. it's coming up quite good and I can now see through the thing! I was thinking of putting a secondary fan in there like the boat thing, I'm gonna upgrade the fan it's self first and then I might...

That'll be why my heater is rubbish

My heater blower motor packed in the other day so I thought I'd go through the whole system, the fan is knackered so I'll be popping to the scrapyard to find a replacement next week, I'm going to look for a fan that fits but is better than a Land Rover item - will update once I've found...
