It also warms up a lot quicker, good for the engine and the cab heater - I've used a bright orange feed bag this year - might get round to doing properly one winter
I use mine for all sorts and have never had a problem, I treat it with respect and it doesn't assault me! I'd never do more than simply lift the vehicle though, it gets axle stands etc. that's the same with any type of jack though.
Each to their own.
A 100mm speaker fits in there (maybe a 120mm) I had to space mine out as the magnet hit the wiper motor. They won't fit in the normal place but might fit in a more creative place.
I had that on the front prop when I bought my Defender, the yolk had closed up like James said - a bit of bendology got it all to fit right and stopped the massive vibration at anything above 30mph!
I fitted a set earlier this year and they improved things dramatically, they do seem to be one of the things ****part do well.
I heard quite a few bad things about Terrafirma and Procomp so decided to go with the yellow
The law is that you can't fit a child seat in a side facing seat:
https://www.gov.uk/child-car-seats-the-rules
Not sure if this is the same for a booster seat? Once they're out of a booster side facing is fine
I thought side facing seats were illegal under a certain age? I put a pair of mini bus seats in the back so the kids are forward facing with seat belts, they're also very sturdy seats that would offer some (?) protection if the worst happened.
Drop the gear box off as you've said, on a 200Tdi when you drop the gear box down low enough to remove it your engine will be lent far enough back to nearly touch the bulk head so you may need to remove your heater matrix pipes, it might pull the wiring out of your glow plug relay too depending...
So many opinions on how to measure the same thing! If you measure spring seat to spring seat you'd get different measurements for different weight vehicles or different weight springs.
I bet Defenders left the factory with different measurements but any of the above should give a rough idea of...
I just popped out with the tape, my 1990 Defender 90 with 235/85/16 tyres and a 2" lift measures:
Floor to underside of sill = 22.5"
Floor to lip of front wheel arch = 3ft
Centre of front wheel to lip of wheel arch = 21"
If your sill is 26" off the ground it'd be a hell of a lift! You'll have a...
The lanes I know well are around the Steps / Wayfairer / Whitestones etc. I want to have a look at the bad one too - see what's going on there.
If you know of any others in that area let me know! I wouldn't mind doing a mid week thing too so that might be on too.
No probs Danny, I'll post them up on here too. Just gotta figure out who's who now, user names and real names can get confusing!!
Thanks for the support, I'm hoping it'll turn into a really good place to arrange things and talk about laning.
Since I've volunteered as the GLASS Wrexham Area Rep I've started a Facebook page for Green Laning in North Wales:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/269563253242353/?fref=nf
It'd be great to see some LZ people on there, I know there are a few people from North Wales on here so it'll be nice...
