Freelander 1 Horrible metalic chattering under car - td4 auto

Hi, Trying to find a horrible metalic chattering sound coming from under car when going over uneven road surfaces. It just takes minor ripples in the road to make it chatter - full length speed humps just makes it worse and louder. Sounds like a loose heat shield as it is a tinny metal...

Freelander 1 Wooshing sound when accelerating behind dash area

Thanks for the replies. Car now suffering a bad loss of power and a bit of surging as revs pass above 2000 rpm. Driven gently with low acceleration it is ok. Car back at same garage on Wednesday. Will I be able to see the turbo pipe connections on driveway without ramps? Strongly suspect...

Freelander 1 Wooshing sound when accelerating behind dash area

Hi, My Freelander 2004 TD4 auto had whole exhaust changed yesterday. I now have a strange wooshing air sound when accelerating. Accelerate a little firmly and it starts and as you ease off it stops gradually as the power reduces. Although no actual extra air is being forced out of any of the...

    2004 TD4 cutting out

cheers - it has never had new glow plugs and I noticed it getting a bit harder to start when colder weather was here. How long does it take a garage to change them on a TD4? Weird though it does not try to cut out when very cold?

    2004 TD4 cutting out

My TD4 tries to cut out about 7 seconds after engine start. If you apply throttle just as it starts to falter it keeps running no problem. It only does this when engine is neither stone cold or up to temp. (eg driven 6 miles in morning, left all day and then re started to go home). It used to...

Front coil springs replaced - tracking needed?

Thanks Wammers. One last query - I can get basic tracking done for £15 at one tyre centre or four wheel alignment on a new laser machine at £75 Will the basic one suffice as they cannot look at the camber? Thanks

Front coil springs replaced - tracking needed?

thanks - should I have had it done after a track rod end was changed? (changed few months ago and all seemed ok but after the coils changed the steering wheel is very slightly off to the left when car straight)?

Front coil springs replaced - tracking needed?

Hi, I have had both front suspension coil springs replaced on my 04 Freelander 1 after a cracked spring. Do I need to get the car tracking checked? Will a simple tracking check be ok or should I get a more expensive four wheel laser alignment done? Many thanks

    Turbo Vent Filter

I am confused now. The part Wammers has sent a link for is the part I was on about. Is there also a vent filter for the turbo as well or just this EGR modulator breather filter? Thanks

    Turbo Vent Filter

Thanks for the reply. Mine appears never to have been changed so will do that. Is it important to get a Land Rover one?

    knock from f/n/s - rack?

Thanks for the replies. The garage asked to me to see if the noise stopped if the rack was loaded - I managed to go backwards and forwards with the car on full right lock over some bumps and the noise stopped. Does that help?
