    Kangarooing Help

Hmm. Could be a number of things but most likely is probably somewhere in the fuel system. Test the fuel pump first.

your thoughts on this wheel bearing?

Just for info - I got an ACE filter from Jaguar | Land Rover spare parts at British Parts UK for £26.78 inc VAT and shipping. When it arrived it was OEM! The local Land Rover stealer wanted £52.70 inc VAT for the same part. There are some good deals with OEMs to be had if you shop around. These...

    new oil gearbox overheating

Ahha - could well be. On the bright side its certainly easier to fix an external pipe than the integral pump! maybe worth looking at: www.discovery2.co.uk / Gearbox Oil Cooler Pipes

    new oil gearbox overheating

Sorry - had to check re oil type - the R380 box is usually reliable so overheating is very unusual. Another thought - the automatic box has an oil cooler which has in integral pump. If this has stopped working then it could perhaps explain the problem. Probably need to test to see if oil is...

    Found a Breakers in Nottingham

TD5 Engines `upgraded' in 2002 I think - at least Castrol split their advice on lubes to the TD5 on that date (dont know why the lubes are the same to those 99-2002!). Unfortunately transfer boxes `downgraded' at around the same time (removed the diff lock mechanism - even LR can make mistakes!)

    new oil gearbox overheating

On the amount to put in - its around 2.7 litres for a manual box but you have an automatic - so it needs 9.8 litres of oil. I presume you know that its a completely different oil needed for the transfer box? see www.castrol.com/castrol/iframe.do?categoryId=9024084&contentId=7044829

your thoughts on this wheel bearing?

The guy has got good feedback and you do have some protection on ebay - probably right up till when you use it! His history shows hes sold others and buyers have been happy. In your position I'd probably give him a go.

mpg before and after a service

Some of the `official service periods are fine - such as 6k for engine oil and filters (especially with better, longer lasting oils being developed) but others are too long in my view: 36,000 miles for 3 years for the air filter and coolant renewal 96,000 miles for the axle oil renewal 24,000...

    Discovery 2 leather seats *wanted*

If you want the genuine Land rover embossed leather - then I read in LRO that there was a huge batch `found' in a warehouse recently and Exmoor trim bought the lot. They'll recover your seat with it but I've no idea what the price will be - not cheap i suspect.

    Disco 2 Insurance

Yep - I was quoted £695 on renewal (it was £500 last year and no changes!) So I went on go compare and got it for £495 from the SAME COMPANY (Driveline). I phoned and asked why and they said its to do with on-line discount for new buisness... So customer loyalty definately does not pay!!

mpg before and after a service

Yup :)- I know all cars do well with a service, but in my experience the Disco benefits from them more than any other I've had. My experience was similar when I bought my TD5. I now service more regularly than the `official schedule' for everything. I changed my gearbox oil recently and noticed...

    Flashing milage

Hmmm.. I'm not sure the ECU has the cognitive ability to `learn' in the way suggested - it does as programmed. However, I've limited experience of them. Hopefully some other members can advise.

    Sunroof drain tubes

Thanks Discool excellent guide! - mine leaks through the winders but funnily enough doesnt leak when dried out and wound down tight (as it is over winter) but when its open during the spring and there may be a little rain it does. I think I'll take on this job on a nice sunny day later in the year!

    Flashing milage

The Kangarooing could possibly be the injectors, but it wouldnt present with that electrical fault....

    Your fave disco accessorie?

On my Disco 2 I guess its all about the transfer box at the moment - activating the difflock and adding the oil cooling sump to the transfer box.

    Heavy Braking judder/noise

If its not the ABS this could be down to suspension, particularly worn bushes - worth checking out.

    Fuel burning Auxillary heater

I saw one of those `pre-heaters' in last months (Jan 2011) edition of Land Rover Owner - cost was over £1000 new, but then you could operate that one from your key fob to warm up the engine whilst still lying in bed... :D

    RAVE download nightmare!!!

There is a guy on Ebay who sells the Rave CD for £3 - search for `Discovery V8 & TD5 workshop manual on CD' - just for interest.
