Disco 300tdi hesitation and poor mpg

Fuel lift pump is a known fault with the 300 TDi's like the other chaps said, it overstrokes causing it to fail. New lift pump part no. ERR5057 and gasket ERR 7339 Riggaz

If the oil pick up strainer has a layer of varnish on it the oil pressure will drop as the restriction is before the pump. Riggaz

    200 TDi performance query

Its a good idea to use a fuel treatment in every tank of fuel bud, they've taken most of the sulphur out of fuel now which was the lubricant your injector pump was relying on and not built to last without. Like discoverytdi says the millers one is good and can be used in every tank full, it's...

    TD5 power/revs fade

It could be chap, modern turbos are variable geometry so if the wastegate or the vanes in the turbo stick then it will over boost causing it to go into limp home mode. Riggaz

It has to be evacuated and refilled again mate, you can only usually add oil just before the refrigerant in phase. Riggaz

Yes pal, you will also need to de gas before you disconnect the old one. When you re gas make sure whoever does it puts the correct amount of oil back in usually 100 - 250ml as most garages only put about 25ml back in, dont think too badly of them the car companies rarely put any in! Riggaz

    Botching Bastards

Oh dear, have you tried swearing at it? Is it jacked up or on the floor? I take it there is no hex socket in the end of it that you can use while spanner tightening it. Riggaz

    Botching Bastards

Thats a tricky one, i've never seen one without anything on it at all, they usually have at least a little socket in the top of the rod that you can get on, i guess if you tried to torque it and it spun you would have to grip the very top of the rod just before it goes through the body with...

    Botching Bastards

The only trouble with that slob is where the tightening sequence is like the one on the 200tdi for example, after 200miles if you re-torqued it again to 40nm then another 60 degrees and then a further 60 degrees you would probably strip the head bolts. Re-torquing is old skool and not necessary...

    Botching Bastards

I wouldn't believe everything in the bible gunner. The correct tightening procedure for a 200tdi for example is stage 1 - 40nm, stage 2 - 60 degrees, stage 3 - 60 degrees all in the correct sequence this is according to up to date Autodata who get their info from LR, re torquing is almost a...

    Oil warning light?

If the oil return galleries in the head are restricted this can reduce oil pressure, however this tends to be at high rpm. Like you say wear is the most likely cause but if it's not making any obvious noises or leaking oil badly it's very difficult to diag, it could literally be wear anywhere in...

No you're right it should'nt go unnoticed and i'm not saying it should, all i'm commenting on is the content of what is said to someone. VW sump sealer is bloody good and sets properly, we get a lot of high mileage taxi's in and none of them leak. I know Turner Engineering use liquid gasket on their engines, liquid gaskets are the way forward. Sili gasket tends to be not very good with oil or petrol contact and it doesn't set...
