You sure it's not a prop UJ? They sounds like chirping and that would explain why it's only when you're moving. I had the same thing when my front UJ was on it's way out and I was convinced it was coming from the engine bay....penny trick and shaking the props to check the UJ's will be cheap...

This is the reason it's dangerous for garages to test your brakes for an MOT or give a dyno run on a single axel tester as it winds the drivetrain up and can cause stuff to break if it's run for too long.

What Disco do you have? Sounds to me like your alternator is screwed....or your battery is on it's way out. I've had it before where the battery has a faulty cell and works fine sometimes but other times causes intermittent issues. Winter normally brings these battery or alternator issues out...

I love it when that happens! Just goes to show if you go into something expecting the worst, you can be pleasanly surprised. Unless you own a P38 in which case the most expensive part will be one at fault! I had the same thing on mine - losing loads of water, no obvious leaks expect some mist...

I don't know loads about the 3.9 engines but I think they're pretty reliable. I had a 3.5 efi and it was alright but had the usual Rover oil leakage issues! Obviously check for the usual signs of head gasket failure (oil in coolant, coolant in oil, mayonaise on oil filler, overheats quickly...

Rust is the main problem on the Disco's. The boot floors go really badly (search for boot floor in the forum and you'll see some 'orrible sights!) Get one that's not too rotten on the boot floor or one that has been repaired decently. Also the sills can go pretty bad - check around the...

Not a huge amount you can do I'm afraid - it's like the other day my drivers door was frozen shut - had to get in passenger side and push it open from the inside. Short of keeping it inside or undercover, it's one of those things.
