    Churping under bonnet

You sure it's not a prop UJ? They sounds like chirping and that would explain why it's only when you're moving. I had the same thing when my front UJ was on it's way out and I was convinced it was coming from the engine bay....penny trick and shaking the props to check the UJ's will be cheap...

    Diff lock stuck or not?????

This is the reason it's dangerous for garages to test your brakes for an MOT or give a dyno run on a single axel tester as it winds the drivetrain up and can cause stuff to break if it's run for too long.

    Very annoying electrical problem

What Disco do you have? Sounds to me like your alternator is screwed....or your battery is on it's way out. I've had it before where the battery has a faulty cell and works fine sometimes but other times causes intermittent issues. Winter normally brings these battery or alternator issues out...

    Diff lock stuck or not?????

Try what Sean says first, that normally works. If no joy, I guess you could test to see if it's on by driving it round in a very tight circle (as tight as a landy will do!) on some grippy tarmac (that's not covered in snow or ice), you should feel the front wheels hop and slide outwards if it's...

    Disco Trouble

When you say won't restart, does it turn over properly but just never fires?

    oh thats wierd ops HELP!

Could the sedimentor be at fault as they collect a fair amount of water too don't they?

Coolant leak somewhere, but where? HELP!!!

I love it when that happens! Just goes to show if you go into something expecting the worst, you can be pleasanly surprised. Unless you own a P38 in which case the most expensive part will be one at fault! I had the same thing on mine - losing loads of water, no obvious leaks expect some mist...

    salisbury plain 10th jan anyone?

Yeah no worries mate, no problem at all. Will be a shame if you can't make it though!

well that part didnt fix it then

See how it runs with the MAF unplugged completely. If it's better or the same, you may have a faulty MAF still. If it's worse then you've got another problem. As for the O2 sensors, they are well worth changing if you are not sure when they were done last. Not sure if the Rangeys have 2-pre...

    Buying a disco 1

I don't know loads about the 3.9 engines but I think they're pretty reliable. I had a 3.5 efi and it was alright but had the usual Rover oil leakage issues! Obviously check for the usual signs of head gasket failure (oil in coolant, coolant in oil, mayonaise on oil filler, overheats quickly...

    Buying a disco 1

Rust is the main problem on the Disco's. The boot floors go really badly (search for boot floor in the forum and you'll see some 'orrible sights!) Get one that's not too rotten on the boot floor or one that has been repaired decently. Also the sills can go pretty bad - check around the...

    Central Locking Frozen !!

Not a huge amount you can do I'm afraid - it's like the other day my drivers door was frozen shut - had to get in passenger side and push it open from the inside. Short of keeping it inside or undercover, it's one of those things.

94 disco o/s rear bearing renewal

I had to do one the other day on the rear. I had to replace the seals too as it was leaking but as they are so cheap and you have to take them off anyway, I'd do them too. I bought: 1 Stub axle seal FTC5268 £1.30 £1.30 1 Swivel to stub axle gasket FTC3648 £0.20 £0.20 1 Hub seal FTC4785R...
