    Discovery Boot Floor Rebuild

Thats an option, I only managed to get 3 of the rear seat bolts out, the other 5 sheared off and had to be drilled out so I've still got to tackle that little problem. I also snapped the rear flexible brake pipe at the mounting point on the floor panel, it must have been rotten because it just...

    Discovery Boot Floor Rebuild

I've spoken to my very friendly MOT tester who told me that as long as the surrounding panels are seam welded, the main floor section can be pop riveted as its not structural, and is only spot welded in originally. The plan is bed into a mastic sealer then plug weld the main section every few...

    Discovery Boot Floor Rebuild

Cheers, the original plan involved a large sheet of chequer plate and a few pop rivets. :D But I decided the old girl deserved to be treated right, so I'm about £400 out of pocket so far and still have a bit more to spend, and thats before I start on the sills! I've been driving around for the...

    Discovery Boot Floor Rebuild

Its been about 10 years since I've done any welding so I dug out the old Sip Migmate 150 and ended up spending 70 odd quid in Machine mart on all the various bits I needed to get it up and running again, including wire and gas and a facemask etc, as well as a new Swan neck and liner, shroud and...

    Discovery Boot Floor Rebuild

I've been putting this off for about 12 months, but decided to eventually get it sorted, I knew it was going to be a bigger job than simply replacing the floor, so I got a bit of overtime in at work to cover the costs. The original floor was completely shot as was much of the surrounding metal...

    Clutch Slippage

Hi guys, I just want to pick your brains before pulling the engine out if I can. in June last year I fitted a Valeo Heavy duty clutch kit to the Disco, apart from a few problems refitting the gearbox, all went went well and the Disco was back up and running. However after about 11000 miles I...

Cruise Control and Steering Wheel problem

I think the system is factory fitted but probably hasn't worked for years I noticed a section of Vac hose that needs replacing. I can't figure out why the relay was disconnected and 2 wires have been shorted out in the socket. I assume this was done a long time ago to bypass the relay which may...

Can you see the images on that page, mine are just blank and I have the text only?

Cruise Control and Steering Wheel problem

Thanks for that, I'll take a look, I'm just trawling through the RAVE CD wiring diagrams, not the most interesting of reading but there is a fault finding chart. Mines a Manual.

Cruise Control and Steering Wheel problem

Thanks, I can't get the indicator rely out, in fact after releasing the little clips that hold it in, I ended up pulling the cover off it. I've changed the switch over with my other Disco so have ruled that out. I'll have another play around tomorrow but I really need to solve this one.

Cruise Control and Steering Wheel problem

Going on the wiring diagram I should be able to figure out which one it is by the colours of wires, but typically none of the relays have the Purple/brown or Orange or what ever it was running to them. I think I'll just rewire an earth feed straight to the horn switch and put a live direct to...

Cruise Control and Steering Wheel problem

I found the socket that connects to this Relay and it has 2 pins shorted out with a cable. Here's the relay. Also it looks like the horn isn't standard, but it does use wires from the loom but I can't find a horn relay anywhere, and its impossible to follow the wire through the bulkhead and...

Cruise Control and Steering Wheel problem

Getting nowhere fast, however I have just found a large relay under the passenger foot well cover, it was clipped in with all the other relays but isn't connected to anything.

Cruise Control and Steering Wheel problem

No Airbag, and I've now located the correct part from ringing one of the breakers on Ebay.:) However........... The horn doesn't work by connecting up the wires and pressing the switch, it works by putting wires direct to it and the 12v feed to it is live. Also the hazzard warning lights...

Cruise Control and Steering Wheel problem

Mine appears to be missing! I've got the wheel off and there is just a recess in the back of the wheel where it should fit. Can anyone tell me if this is th correct one, because I have nothing to compare it to. DISCOVERY STEERING WHEEL HARNESS AMR 563124335010 on eBay (end time 14-Apr-11...

Cruise Control and Steering Wheel problem

Having picked up the new V8 yesterday, I noticed the cruise control wasn't working, the switch illuminates but the steering wheel buttons don't do anything. This morning I found out the horn doesn't work either so I decided to investigate. After removing the horn I found that the multiplug isn't...

    Which suspension kit????

I went down this road recently and in the end I decided on a Bearmach standard height HD kit. I kept the tyres standard sizes and just put MT's on. I have been out many times in lots of different conditions and have never failed to keep up with any of the Defenders or lifted discos etc, in fact...

    My new V8

I'll have to try it on the motorway I think, I've figured out it works now but can't get it to work, if that makes sense. I'll play about with it and see what I come up with. :)

    My first V8

Just removed my last 2 posts and added them to my other thread in the Disco section, as they weren't about the engine.
